2 Eden Grove Cottages Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
As part of a conversion of a former stable block this property is an attractive, mid terrace house situated on a quiet lane in the centre of Armathwaite. The cottage has been lovingly restored and decorated to a high standard throughout, in order to provide warm welcoming accommodation. The quality furnishings and minimal, elegant styling complement the period features of the property, including original beams, exposed sandstone walls and a wood burning stove. The village of Armathwaite itself provides an array of interesting walks and the essential amenities of a shop and two village pubs. Other activities throughout the area are within easy driving distance too.

Ideally placed for exploring the Lake District, Eden Valley and the lovely coastline of the Solway Firth, Armathwaite is an attractive, unspoiled rural village. This charming settlement has two old pubs - both with popular restaurants - a post office and a traditional village shop. The River Eden runs through the centre of the village itself whilst the surrounding area is renowned for its excellent salmon fishing, walking, canoeing and climbing. The impressive Armathwaite Castle is a four-storey Pele Tower, and the 15th Century Church provides fine examples of stained glass windows. The Eden Gorge, situated between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is amongst Cumbria's best-kept secrets making it a quiet day out away from the tourists. Penrith hosts the Rheged Discovery Centre which gives visitors a chance to see the largest grass covered building in the country whilst Dalemain Historic House - featured in a television production of Jane Eyre – is also within easy driving distance.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

User-friendly central heating & hot water with woodburner in sitting room. Electric double oven with grill, halogen hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV, DVD, radio/CD player, WiFi, small library of books/games. Fuel, power & starter pack for woodburner inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Highchair & stairgate available. Roadside parking. Small patio area in shared courtyard with furniture. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Post Office, shop & pub 2 mins walk.

September 2011
Where do I start! The whole holiday was fantastic, even when it rained I loved the sound of rain on the roof whilst we were so warm and comfortable in bed at night. The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped, as was the store house for the logs for the fire, although we only used it once as the house was warm and cosy enough! The TV/DVD was good although the height of it in our humble opinion warranted it being a little larger screen than it was but that, if any, is the only tiny thing we would have changed, everything else was fantastic! Thank you to the owners for your fabulous attention to detail! We hope to return again! It was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Many many thanks again! See you again, if you'll have us!

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage in an idyllic location. Quiet and peaceful but only 20 minutes away from Carlisle. The price was good considering the two bathrooms and a separate toilet and the instructions were very clear. It was a home from home and we all settled in very quickly - Thank you!

Lovely retreat, in its own little haven, great to return back to after walking the Fells. The 'Dukes Head' around the corner is a really friendly and welcoming place too!
March 2015
Lovely cottage in the middle of the village. Local, pubs (2) within a very short stroll and village shop had everything we needed for the week. Cottage very well equipped for self catering week. Cold on arrival but warmed up once the log fire lit. We even entertained our friends one evening in style. Beds comfy and bedrooms cosy. Took the train to Settle for the day and that was an amazing trip. Great scenery and lots to see in Settle. Worth doing.
May 2011
My Fiance and I stayed in the cottage for 4 nights prior to getting married in Gretna Green in March. The cottage was absolutely perfect, very well kitted out, very cosy and well located. The owner was very excited that we had chosen their cottage to stay in for our 'pre marriage honeymoon' and even sent us a lovely wedding card ! Very thoughtful. Would thoroughly recommend this property.
Mrs Brown
July 2016
A lovely Cottage in an ideal location for walks in the Lakes and surrounding areas.
March 2011
A lovely little cottage in a beautiful location. Only a short distance from Carlisle, The Lakes and Scotland, but idylically quiet. Local pub also very friendly and provided good quality food. Cottage had all the amenities needed. The only down side it was very cold upon arrival and this + the stone floor was not suitable for our crawling baby. The owner was very helpful, polite and flexible (as w had to keep changing dates). Would definatley recommend. Had a peaceful and relaxing break...Thank you !
July 2010
