Known as the Isle of Whithorn, this village is actually not an island, but a small village on the Scottish coast in Dumfries and Galloway. Amenities in the village include two pubs/hotels, a Post Office/general store, and a harbour. There is so much history in this area, from Iron Age forts to 11th century churches, and standing stones to castles built by Robert The Bruce. The 'book town' of Scotland, Wigtown, is a few miles away from the village, and the rest of lovely Dumfries and Galloway is on the doorstep.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

The cottage was situated within a beautiful area and the complex was very well appointed and maintained. Due to the isolation of the cottage it was very quiet at night leading to a good nights sleep.

Warm and cosy, this was a perfect base to explore the lovely Isle of Whithorn and the surrounding area. It was a very easy 'home from home' for our short break, with lots of hot water for showers on return from a hard day's walking, and an evening of chill out film nights.

Quiet, relaxing and peaceful. Loved the area and the fabulously short walk to the sea (15-20 seconds).

An excellent cottage on a private estate. There is good coastal walking and nearby forestry commission walks and the pub on the harbour had excellent meals and Camra awards.

Loved where the cottage was situated and the walks (as I had the dog), the harbour and of course having 7 days of continuous sunshine!

The cottage was in a nice area. Very disappointed with the kitchen area, wasn't as clean as it could have been, the cooker wasn't very nice and the utensils needed to be washed.

It is very quiet and peaceful at Laigh Isle. The property had everything we needed and the biscuits and milk in the kitchen when we arrived were very thoughtful. Will definitely go back. Perfect base for exploring.
