5 Larachbeg Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
5 Larachbeg is steeped in rural charm and is a stone built terrace cottage. The house was first built with the purpose of housing workers who were labouring at Ardtornish estate nearby but that was over 100 years ago. The property has been lovingly updated and has a large modern kitchen/dining area where everyone can gather round in the evening time. The property has 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 single bedroom and 1 bathroom. There's also a wood burner in the living room so if it gets a little chilly you can cosy up next to it! Lovely views of the surrounding forests, woods and hills can all be seen from this house.

The quiet village of Lochaline lies on the Morven Peninsula, which is famous for being one of Britain's most remote areas. Lochaline also overlooks the shiny waters of the Sound of Mull. The charming village of Lochaline is perched next to the very start of the sea loch and is well served by various shops including a post office. There are some delicious treats to be had at the village snack bar, a sophisticated hotel to go and have drinks in the lobby at, a seafood restaurant serving some of Scotland's freshest fish and a popular diving school as well. The idyllic Isle Of Mull is also incredibly easy to get to and there's a car ferry leaving regularly to take tourists over in the holiday season.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Oil central heating with woodburner in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer (in shed), washing machine, TV, DVD, radio/CD player, selection of books, games, DVDs. Fuel, power and starter pack of fuel for open fire inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Stairgate. Off road parking for 2 cars. Lawned garden to rear, gravel front garden with garden furniture and BBQ. Three well-behaved pets welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 3 miles. Note: Check-in 4pm.

5 Larachbeg was a perfect property - Ideal as a base for touring this fantastic area but also ideal for relaxing/unwinding/sleeping and eating in. This location provided the opportunity to explore many new areas whether on foot, by car or using ferries. The fantastic weather was a bonus but even without it this holiday would have been memorable as there was so much to do and see in this area, including stunning wildlife and scenery.

The location was good. The neighbours were helpful. There was a lot more to do in the surrounding area than we had anticipated. The cottage was extremely comfortable. We felt the area was ideal for dog walking. We were amazed at the quality of food in nearby restaurants, particularly the Boathouse on the Kingairloch Estate. Would recommend this cottage to friends and family.

We arrived after an 8hr drive to find the keys in the door and the heating on. It was immaculately clean and had a welcoming atmosphere. Everything we needed was there and we felt right at home. The housekeepers couldn't do more to help us but they weren't intrusive, just gave us tips on things we might like to do or answered our questions honestly. The local area is stunning for walks and wildlife and the scenery is spectacular! As others have said it is remote so bring your food with you, although they do have the basics in the cupboard (tea, force, pasta etc) A thoroughly lovely peaceful holiday cottage I look forward to coming back to
August 2011
A great holiday destination. Accommodation well located with easy parking, friendly neighbours (but not too friendly!) just a couple of miles from the facilities at Lochaline, Dog friendly. Easy to get to Mull by ferry. We may well come again. Ian and Zoe

Just come back from a week at this amazing house with my mum and our dogs. All I can say is its a little slice of heaven. I have stayed in many cottages and this is the best equipped place. There was even a slow cooker to use. It was spotlessly clean. Both bathrooms were nicely done out, the shower was level access and the staircase was very good to use. Most staircases are aprox 13 steps, this had 18, same height house but the riseres were of lower height making it easier to climb which helped my mum no end. The house keeper lives next door and both her and her husband could not do enough for us. Lochaline stores is 3 miles away and closes at 6pm and although very well stocked is a little limited, however Fort William is the nearest town so you might want to stop en route to get a shop. I cannot wait to come back here, it was a joy. I have already recommended this property to several friends.
