Lovely being able to stay during the Yarndale Festival. The lovely lounge to sit and read in during the evening. Loved the decor. I did not want to come home.

Skipton is a wonderful place to stay and Mill Bridge was in an excellent location just over the canal. We hired a day boat and after some minor mishaps navigated through 5 bridges and back. I would highly recommend this property!

This, my second visit to this property, was for my 80th birthday. With no close family, this was for me. I can very happily live with my own company and 7 The Mill is perfect. Shops, restaurants just around the corner, easy walking by the canal, dogs coming to say hello, and the beautiful woods within easy distance. You can feel very much at peace here, to read, write or just watch happy people walking the canal path. Mr. Dow, the Landlord, came very promptly last time I could not sort the T.V. out. This time I had sussed it. Although on three floors, the stairs are easy for me to manage and I sincerely hope to be able to stay again in 2015

The cottage has all of the home comforts needed to make a break an enjoyable one. The location was perfect for quietness, yet social as you want. Next to a canal with boat trips, nearby is the Skipton Woods for tranquility. Close to shops and pubs, all in walking distance. It was also really convenient that the owner also owned the Castle Inn across the road, the pub did lovely meals - that was a bonus.

Good central position in Skipton, easy parking at the Castle Inn. The owner, who is the landlord of the pub opposite, was very helpful and friendly. Good standard of accommodation and excellent value for money.

We loved the location but the list of defects with the property made it almost laughable. It has a pull out dishwasher - you attempt to open and it comes out of the mounting cabinet in your hand, I never managed to open the door on it! Bathroom underfloor heating has no control so it just gets warmer and warmer till you cant actually stand on certain spots. Kitchen smoke alarm has been disconnected, I accidentally set fire to croissants using the grill instead of the oven and not even a bleep - there is no flashing light to indicate that it's working. Numerous lights not working, or no bulbs fitted. A useless TV mounted on the wall that has been disconnected. Bedroom window - do not open in damp weather as it will expand and you wont be able to shut it........ It just feels as if the owner/manager wasnt interested in maintaining it and that's very sad as it could be an absolute gold mine.

The property is in a fantastic location, best in the town probably. Accommodation comfortable, clean and well equipped. Great to have reserved secure parking in a town centre location but with so much within walking distance, we rarely used the car. To sum up, a lovely, quirky little place that we were very happy to come home to each evening, hard to fault.

Actual Pillows filthy smelt of food. Not cleaned all that well. No toilet paper on arrival. No manual for the wifi,TV/Sat TV operation. I if remember correctly 7 globes not working An absolute brilliant location. A pity that the finer details are not attended to otherwise I would happily rate it as a 5 star. I let Sykes Cottage know of the shortfalls, would be interested if the problems have been addressed. If they have would certainly stay there again. The host operates the Hotel opposite very pleasant fellow. I have recommended as yes, ask first if concerns addressed

Having travled up to skipton on arrival the place where we we told to pick the key up from was all ring fenced off and closed for building work. I Contacted the agent that we booked through and they could not contact the owner so we had no choice but to go home. I have given the owner a week before puting in a review ,but have had no cantact or appology or explanation as to what went wrong. Thanks for ruining my 50th birthday.

: Arrived to a terrible stench of rotting food : Kitchen bin overflowing : Dirty pots : Unmade bed : Dirty bathroom : Dirty kitchen : No kettle : Broken tv : Badly stained duvet with no protector : Fridge with sour milk that had solidified and separated : Cupboard full of half used food, lemonade and juices I could go on. The owner quickly spruced up the cottage after telling us give them an hour and a half. We asked what he was prepared to do about the above and he replied "what can I do, it's our opening night after refurbishment, there's nothing I can do". He explained that if he didn't have time to speak to us on the Saturday or Sunday he would make a point of speaking to us on the Monday. This was Friday night! He owns the Castle Inn across from the cottage and he explained he left the cottage to his housekeeper to deal with and that he hadn't been in it to check. I asked if he would like to sleep in a bed with brown stains on the duvet, he didn't reply and again asked what he could do about it. We asked for a refund he agreed, I got it in writing, and we had to travel home the same night, which took us a good couple of hours.

Very well equipped and very comfortable, we really enjoyed our week there. The location is perfect for the centre of Skipton. Highly recommended.
