Amber Cottage Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Amber Cottage is a charming, traditional, terraced cottage, quietly hidden away in one of the narrow yards in central Whitby and can sleep four people. The cottage is set over three floors and has a double bedroom, a second floor twin bedroom, a shower room and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and a sitting area with a living flame gas fire. Situated at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby is an ancient fishing port steeped in history. The ruin of St Hilda's Abbey is high on Whitby's East Cliff and looks down on narrow streets and alleyways. From the old town, the parish church of St Mary, also on East Cliff, has 199 steps leading to it and the churchyard was one of the inspirations for Bram Stoker's Dracula. Other attractions in Whitby include the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Victorian Jet Works and The Dracula Experience. There are year-round events at Whitby Pavilion Complex and there is a blue flag beach and spectacular cliffs and bays to explore. Whitby is in a beautiful region and offers visitors a great deal of variety for a memorable holiday at any time of year.

The North York Moors National Parkcovers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Amber Cottage is a quirky wee abode on three levels with views from the attic bedroom across the harbour to Whitby Abbey and St Mary's Church. With the living flame open fire, the house is cosy and a combination boiler provides all the hot water you need.

Very well equipped and nicely decorated. A very sweet little cottage with excellent views of the Abbey and ideally situated in the middle of Whitby. The town is lovely and the beach and pier were visited daily. We would definitely visit again.

Lots to do in Whitby within easy reach of the cottage - central location meant we didn't need to use our car all week. Cottage was very comfortable and suited our needs. Lots of lovely places to eat and visit, whatever the weather. The top bedroom was particularly lovely, with its views of the Abbey and the sea, the children were reluctant to leave the attic - very cosy!

Whitby is a lovely town and Amber Cottage is in a great location. The cottage is cosy and very well furnished and equipped. The best thing about our trip to Whitby was the many pubs, coffee shops and bars that welcomed dogs. What more could we ask for.

Beautiful, cosy cottage, very clean and well furnished. Perfectly positioned for instant access to the sea front and main shopping and dining areas. The view from the top bedroom fascinated our 8 year old who loved to be able to see the Abbey and the sea when she woke up!

September 2013
The cottage was warm and friendly, it had all the towels and sheets there, so we did not have to bring them from home. The highlight of the holiday was going on the steam bus, I would recommend it, as it takes you on a tour of the area.

The cottage (once located)is a lovely cottage, home from home enough equipment for your needs. Location is great has shops pubs banks etc are near by. We enjoyed fossil hunting on the beach with our dog. Even in wet weather there are attractions to go and see. Whitby museum is a good place to go and see.
