Arfron Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Originally used in the 1700s as a barn, this property has been sympathetically restored to offer accommodation for groups of up to four people. Original features such as pine panelling and exposed beams make this cottage a comfortable and stylish haven for those looking to get away from it all. This property forms part of a terrace of cottages converted from one barn. Set in the grounds of a working livestock farm, its enviable position offers spectacular views of the Snowdonia mountain range. Pine panelling, exposed beams and original stonework combine to create a classic cottage feel; a perfect and peaceful base from which to explore the region.

Area
Hailed as the Gateway to Snowdonia, Betws-Y-Coed is now the principal village of the Snowdonia National Park. Much of Betws-Y-Coed was built in Victorian times on the site where the River Conwy joins its three tributaries. Its natural beauty has inspired artists since those times and many continue to visit to try and capture something of the stunning scenery. Thick woodlands and imposing mountains dominate the skyline, offering an unspoilt habitat to a variety of animals, birds and some rare species of plants. With Mount Snowdon looming as a backdrop, Betws-Y-Coed attracts walkers, climbers and mountain-bikers throughout the year. As a result, the town is well served by inns and pups where you can sample local delights such as traditional Welsh rarebit and Glamorgan sausages. Also of interest are the many bridges in the area. Pont-y-Pair, built in 1468, is buffeted by foaming water after heavy rain, hence the meaning of its name: the Bridge of the Cauldron. A number of sign-posted walks in the surrounding countryside start near this bridge. A mile or so away is the Miner's Bridge, on the road to Capel Curig, where early miners crossed the river on a steep ladder to get to work.

Region
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

This is a well appointed, very cosy cottage that was more spacious than the photos suggest. The owners are fantastic hosts and very welcoming. We will definitely return to explore more of Snowdonia.

The view from Arfron, Penrhyddion Pella was amazing .The owner was very welcoming and whilst we didn't need any assistance I did feel that we could have asked and help would have been given. Whilst it is 3 properties made from one barn I felt it was surprisingly private. I cooked in the cottage each night and each utensil/item I needed was there. The owner had really thought about what was in the cupboards.

The cottage was in a peaceful location; not too far away from the nearest town, and very close to some very nice walks, which we enjoyed. It was very relaxing and had nice owners, they made you feel very welcome.

The situation of the property was excellent, over looking the valleys and mountains, so peaceful and beautiful, if you want a quiet holiday away from it all, this is the place to come to. Our hosts very kindly left us some home made Welsh cakes and fresh milk for a welcome cup of tea. It was very much appreciated.

This accommodation was very well equipped with a lot of extras provided as well as home made welsh cakes on our arrival. The owners were extremely helpful and were on call for any problems. The holiday let is in a lovely position up in the peaceful hills with a view of Snowdon, but near enough to local towns for shopping.

August 2013
It was one of the nicest cottages that I have stayed in for a holiday. You were made to feel very welcome and it felt like home from home. It was ideal as it was away from everything and very isolated. If we go back to that area for another break I would definitely consider using the same cottage again.

The warm welcome we received was really lovely and made us feel very much at home. I have stayed in many self catering cottages in the past but I have never experienced a welcome quite like it. The cottage was lovely, beautifully clean and well presented in an idyllic setting.

The owners made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much for them. They even welcomed us when we arrived. This was the first time for me at this cottage and it won't be the last for sure. Also, this was an ideal location in the Snowdon range for all the beautiful walks we did.

September 2010
The location was excellent with views over the mountains, in a secluded location yet only a few miles from main routes. It was a very nice cottage, formed from a barn conversion with plenty of character and original stone work. The owners were friendly but situated remote enough not to feel you were invading their space. Overall a lovely holiday even with it raining for a couple of days!

August 2006
If the cottage wasn't breathtaking enough, just to turn around and see the panoramic views of the Snowdonia National Park was the icing on the cake. The owners provided such nice little touches on arrival. Although they were on hand to help if required they weren't on the doorstep at every turn. A highly recommended property!!!!

Stayed at The Arfron from 31st Aug-6th Sept, all previous reviews are true, this is a wonderful place to stay. Kathy & John are fantastic hosts welcoming on the Saturday & saying goodbye on the Thursday evening. We had the best weather you could expect for September, sunny & warm most days. The cottage is spacious for 2, might be a little cramped for 4 adults, 1 bedroom as bunk beds. There is plenty of storage space though & the kitchen is the best equipped we have stayed in. The lane leading to the cottage can be a bit daunting to some but its less than 1/2 mile long, the bonus being not much traffic takes this road so walking the dog is a treat, the views from the lanes are a treat. Excellent base for touring Snowdonia, most places can be reached within the hour, Betws-y-Coed, Capel Curig,Llangollen,Llandudno & many others. The Ponty Pair hotel in Betws-y-Coed does good beer & pub grub as does the Swallow Falls hotel. Will definitely be returning soon.

A wonderfully relaxing week spent in a beautiful part of the world. Cottage was perfect, spotlessly clean with everything we needed, situated in a lovely location with beautiful views. Secluded, but still handy for the local village pub and Betws Y Coed with it's amenities and well marked walks etc. Owners very friendly and the Welsh cakes provided were the best I've tasted. Will definitely return.
