The cottage is right by the estuary and you can hear the sea when the tide comes in. There are lovely views from the rear bedroom windows and even the view from the front is pleasant, as the Main Street is full of pretty houses. The cottage had obviously been renovated and re-decorated quite recently. It was done to a high standard. Ashlea felt like a holiday 'home' rather than just a rental property, as it was nicely furnished and had a homely feel. Most of what we needed was there and it was very clean.

Nice cosy cottage in the peaceful main street of Ravenglass. Wonderful views of the estuary from the back bedrooms, direct access to the beach from small back yard. You will need to bring your own towels, as well as tea and coffee etc. Plates and cups provided are rather chunky, we ended up buying our own mugs, because the tea tasted better from them! Coal fire is great and will heat your water, so no need to use the immersion heater. The house can be a bit chilly ( we were there in May ) so bring warm clothes and get the fire going! There is a charge for electricity used over and above the first ten pounds, we used the heating occasionally , the cooker every day for a week and were still well under the £10 free limit, so don't let that worry you. Rear access to the beach is by a metal ladder, this may be a factor if you have small children. Cottage is dog friendly and ours had a great time on the beach! All in all, its good value for money in a splendid location.

This is a comfortable, welcoming cottage in a stunning location. Private steps lead down from the little yard at the rear straight down onto the sands of the Esk estuary. First and second floor rear windows enjoy fantastic views across the water with its moored sailing craft to the totally unspoiled sand dunes of the bird sanctuary on the other side. The delightful village street to the front is restricted to residents (including "Ashlea") and so is very quiet. However, there is fair/reasonable wi-fi access for B.T. Fon members. We would definitely stay here again. The open fire is also a boon!

Had fantastic holiday in Ravenglass even though gale force winds and torrential rain. Cottage was lovely, local pub great & beach brilliant for my little King Charles. This is second time we have rented this cottage.
