Awel Eryri description

Holiday home
Awel Eryri is a cosy, detached, single-storey cottage set in an elevated position, in the grounds of the owner's smallholding and home, on the outskirts of Llanrug and can sleep five people. This all ground floor property has a double bedroom, a room with triple bunks (double on base, single on top), a shower room, a kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with an open fire. Outside there is off road parking for two cars, a private decked patio with furniture and communal picnic tables with barbecue. Awel Eryri is a wonderful holiday base.

Situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, Llanrug is a small village with two pubs and a shop just three miles from the famous town of Llanberis. Popular amongst walkers, this tranquil settlement is set beneath the Snowdon Massif and flanked by the Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris lakes. As one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park, Llanberis is an ideal spot for walkers and climbers to gather, particularly during the annual Snowdon marathon. For the less energetic holidaymaker, trains travel to the summit at regular intervals giving those unable to climb to the peak a chance to enjoy the incredible views. Back in the town itself there are a number of excellent places to eat and drink as well as a great choice of shops.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

Everything and more was available at this cottage. It was clean, immaculate and very warm with a homely feeling. The location was perfect for exploring the nearby attractions in a elevated position away from busy traffic. The local pubs were welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend and we hope to return soon.

We don't think we could have found a better basecamp for our exploration of North Wales. It was wonderful to be able to get back to Awel Eyriand relax with a cuppa sitting in the conservatory watching the evening sky and admiring the beauty of our surroundings. The owner was very friendly, just what we needed after an 8 hour journey.

From the moment we arrived at Awel Eryri we felt at home. It is a beautiful spacious cottage, the owner has gone to a lot of trouble to ensure everything is in tip top condition and we found this was the best Sykes cottage we have stayed in. The added bonus being the conservatory where we were able to sit late afternoon and relax and read.

We had a great stay at Awel Eryri from the moment we arrived until we had to leave. We were welcomed with a smile and an unexpected basket of local produce from the nearby independent shops as well as the staples; bread, milk, cheese. The property itself was clean, modern and warm. The conservatory overlooking the view to the front was a real blessing and gave us somewhere to read and play games while watching the inevitable Welsh weather roll across Llanrug. We have a small Patterdale Terrier and with the property being on the outskirts of the village, there are plenty of footpaths to explore. The farmers we met were very pleasant and happy to see us using the paths (unlike at home). Just make sure you keep your best friend on a leash! We had some great days out walking and the odd beach day. There is plenty to do in this North West corner of Wales. We had several days in Caernarfon after finding a number of restaurants that catered for Coeliacs and to let the boys experience crab fishing off the harbour wall. Awel Eryri was a great base for our holiday, situated far enough back from the A4086 to feel like your removed from the hum-drum of life and although the owners were on site the balance was just right of friendly hello's and waves when passing. Next time we are back in the area we would like to return.
