Beudy Llyswen description

Beudy Llyswen has been converted from the cowshed and barn, (Beudy means cowshed in Welsh), and is now a well appointed holiday home, close to the owner’s home. Situated down a narrow lane 150 yards from the main road, it lies in a tranquil location with a rural feel, but is only 10 minutes’ walk to the centre of Aberaeron if you take a short cut over a field. If you walk up to the main road you have a 15 minute walk on the pavement all the way to the centre of town. At the top of the lane there is a bus stop with an hourly service for the 2 minute journey into the town centre. Aberaeron with its picturesque harbour and pleasant riverside walk, is often referred to as ’the jewel in Ceredigion’s crown’. This is a haven for wild flowers and wildlife with 5 acres of hay meadows where guests can walk freely; there is even a tennis court so bring your rackets. Direct access over a footbridge will bring you onto the path and cycle track leading to the National Trust Llanerchaeron Estate, an elegant Georgian villa designed by John Nash, set in the wooded Aeron valley. From the conservatory you can relax with a coffee and enjoy the lovely view and you may see many of the frequent visitors including ducks, pheasants, grey wagtails, marsh tits and majestic red kites overhead. You can also see dippers on the river, where, if fishing is your hobby, the owners have two rod licences to fish on their own stretch. To the rear of the property there is patio and lawned garden to enjoy, with direct access from the French doors leading from the dining room. Inside the cottage is comfortably furnished and both bedrooms offer en-suite facilities.
The harbour town of Aberaeron has rows of colourful painted Georgian houses clustered around the stone harbour which is the focal point of the town. Here you will find an array of independent shops and a selection of places to eat and drink, from pubs and cafes to bistros and restaurants, and of course fish and chips and the famous honey ice cream. Aberaeron hosts a series of events during the season, Festival of Welsh Ponies and Cobs, the Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival, Aberaeron Regatta, Beer & Wine Festival, Tug of War across the harbour, Rugby 7’s, Carnival and a Mackerel Festival. From the town you can also join the unspoilt Ceredigion Coastal Path offering excellent walking opportunities taking you over cliffs and through ancient woodland and connecting all the local beaches.
Delightful New Quay is a few miles away with picturesque houses, pubs and restaurants, the town clings to the sides of the hills rising above the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. Often bottlenose dolphins can be spotted and in season dolphin survey boat trips are available from the sheltered harbour, or you can just enjoy the sandy beach. Within easy reach are the ancient towns of Cardigan with its castle, or Aberystwyth with a promenade, pier and the world’s longest working electric cliff railway.
