Blue Stack House description

Holiday home
Blue Stack House is a detached house set on the Bluestack Drive near Donegal in County Donegal. The cottage has two king-size double rooms on the first floor, one with an en-suite, and on the ground floor, a twin and a double room with access to the shower room. There is a bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs. There is a kitchen with dining area, a sitting room with multi-fiel stove, and a small summer room with table. Outside is ample off road parking and a front patio. Blue Stack House makes an ideal base for enjoying the scenery of the area, or exploring the beaches, walking and fishing Donegal has to offer.

The bustling market town of Donegal Town boasts the Donegal Castle and Murvagh Beach, plus the area offers fishing and golf. Further afield is the Glengesh Pass, Slieve League, Glenveagh National Park and Castle and Malin Head.

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

The property is in the Blue Stack Mountains, an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is practically no traffic at the property, which affords a private and relaxing safe environment for guests. Donegal is a short car journey away, as is the beach and the Wild Atlantic Way. The house is well proportioned and equipped to meet the needs of a large extended family.

Fantastic house and location. The views were extraordinary and the isolation was just what we were looking for. The house has lots of space and was nice and warm even on some very cold winter days.

From the first meeting with the owners it felt we were with family. They could not have been more helpful, always checking if everything was okay for us and if we needed any help whilst in Ireland, we were to contact them. Then the house, the most beautiful holiday home we have stayed at, during our many travels to Ireland, a real home from home, a jewel. I had read the location was remote, but that was exactly what we were looking for, it is only minutes away from Donegal town and a perfect location for walkers, or those of us that enjoy the peace and the beauty the countryside offers. Each morning, we were in awe of the amazing scenery, so much so, we did not want to leave, but as we are returning again in November, it made things easier, knowing we will be returning. Thank you so much for making our stay so unforgettable.

This is a five star property! A total gem! The house itself had everything you could possibly need - right down to jigsaws for rainy afternoons. It's located in the pristine surroundings of the Bluestack mountains. Everything to help make your stay comfortable has been thought of. The beds are comfy, the bedding is quality, the kitchen is well equipped and there's WiFi! It's a real home from home. The owner's deserve a special mention, they're worth their weight in gold. They took fabulous care of us. So much so we are already planning return trips!

Blue Stack House was a truly lovely house in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The owners could not have been nicer and more welcoming. It was just a lovely stay made more special by the warm and friendly welcome we were given. The kids are already eagerly asking when we will book to go back! Would thoroughly recommend to everyone to book this lovely house.

Liked the location, the view from the sun room, the friendly hosts and their sheep. In a quiet country location with a fireplace with plenty of fuel, it had a home away from home atmosphere.

A fantastic stay here! Very quiet and serene which was just what we needed after visiting the bigger cities. The owner was very friendly and we were lucky enough to see her and her son do some sheep sheering. The kids loved all the sheep around us as well, a great experience for them! Would love to return one day! Thanks for everything!

The house was perfect in every way. The rooms spacious and spotless. The views over Bundoran and Sligo town were spectacular. We managed 3 very long hikes straight from the house in all directions. There is easy access across the owners land onto the mountain side. Any of these hikes could be sliced up a little to make more realistic days. We also walked down to the Desert graveyard; well worth a visit. The owners Noreen and Con were lovely hosts. Con met us and gave us the full guided tour. We also spotted them in the field across the road with the sheep and in the car and stopped to chat. Both very friendly, knowledgeable of the area and welcoming. I hope to return.

Noreen very kindly met us at the Blue Stack Centre to lead the way to the house, which is quite isolated (and so saved a bit of map reading arguments!). The weather was best described with the words wet and windy but Noreen had the stove lit and a loaf of wheaten ready for us, we couldn't ask for more. The house is large and bright, the bedrooms clean and comfortable. Lots of walking to be done around the area (weather permitting) and while seemingly very remote, Donegal town is not an unreasonable distance away should a visit be required. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get a bit of peace and quiet and enjoy the spectacular views.
