Bluebell Cottage description

Located in Calder Vale which was built as a model village for its mill workers in the 1800s, this pretty end of terrace holiday cottage provides cosy and welcoming holiday accommodation in a superb location, right on the edge of the surrounding woodland on the banks of the River Calder. This conservation village still has a strong sense of community and many of its inhabitants still work at the mill today. The local village hall organises various events throughout the year (bookable directly and in advance) including the annual bluebell walk from which the cottage takes its name. For a wider range of amenities, head into the bustling market town of Garstang, 4½ miles, which has a good selection of shops and supermarkets, as well as lots of cafes and restaurants. There is also a weekly Thursday market. The city of Lancaster is just 13 miles away and Williamson Park with its Edwardian Butterfly House and 54 acres of open space makes it worth a visit. Perfect for couples who love the outdoors, the cottage is in a great area for walking as you can walk directly from the doorstep into the neighbouring woods which has the river on one side and a small lake on the other. If you fancy just a short walk, 2 miles, you can walk from the village into Cobble Hey where there is a great little café. Alternatively you can head into Garstang and take a stroll along the canal or along the sands in Pilling, 11 miles, which is particularly good for dog walking. Bluebell Cottage is very accessible for Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland (AONB), 20 miles. Blackpool and the Fylde Coast are also within easy driving distance. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park are within an hour’s drive. Shop, pub and restaurant 4½ miles.Ground Floor:
