Bowsden Hall Farm Cottage description

Holiday home
Bowsden Hall Farm Cottage is a lovely, traditional stone mid-terrace can be found in the tranquil village of Bowsden, a mere three miles from Lowick. Sympathetically modernised, this cosy little house retains much of its period charm. Well-equipped and comfortably furnished with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, sitting room and a lovely, spacious garden for outdoor dining in summer, this cottage is a fantastic place for all the family to stay whilst enjoying the wonderful setting of Northumbria. With Berwick only a fifteen-minute drive to the north, and Alnwick thirty minutes to the south, Bowsden Hall Farm Cottage is excellently placed to enjoy the best the region has to offer, including the causeway to Holy Island - or Lindisfarne - just six miles away.

With the Kimmerston Riding Centre, Ford Castle, Etal estate and a great miniature railway nearby, Lowick is bound to have something for everyone to do whilst visiting the lovely countryside of Northumbria. The little town of Ford is just two miles away and is not only home to the splendour of Ford Castle, but also plays host to a variety of craft shops, whilst the surrounding area is full of opportunities for cycling and fishing. With the beautiful, historic coastline only minutes away, and Holy Island, the Cheviots and Berwick-Upon-Tweed close by, this lovely rural village is a great place from which to explore the surrounding area.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

We thought that the cottage was in a perfect location to visit the coastal areas of Northumberland and the borders. The property had a lovely south facing garden which you could relax in after your days out. It was also excellent for the dog.

The cottage was just what we were looking for. Comfortable, spacious and generously fitted out. We cannot compliment the owners enough. A marvellous home to come back to after a day's walking or sight seeing. Excellently situated. We would love to come back and will certainly recommend it to friends and family. We enjoyed the variety of things to do for which the cottage was excellently positioned.

The layout of the cottage was quite quirky! (characterful) but gave a lovely sense of being able to feel comfortable and being relaxed. It is ideally situated for providing so many places of interest and beauty to visit. Altogether a very nice base for a most enjoyable holiday.

A very nice cottage warm and cosy, a nice sunny garden with attractive views. Lovely peaceful location, making it an excellent base to travel north or south with superb beaches within a short drive. Clearly a cared for family home not just a holiday let.

Beautiful quiet village to stay in only 10 minutes drive from Berwick upon Tweed and Holy Island. The cottage has a quirky layout and is extremely well equipped. The neighbours either side are welcoming as is everyone you bump into around the village. The cottage is pet friendly too. We would love to return in the future.

This is the best way to get away from it all, lovely quiet village and starry Northumbrian night skies. The cottage is comfortable and cosy but still plenty of space for a group or family. The dining room catches the morning sun and it seems a shame to rush breakfast. It is a property obviously cared for with attention to detail and well equipped for a holiday home.
November 2010
We found the cottage cozy, warm & clean. In no way luxurious, but lived in, loved and 'comfy', just right for that part of the world. A quriky set up roomwise which added character to the place. The only possible down side would be the one and only tiny toilet which could cause a big problem if someone where rather plump. I am not obese, but about 3 stone overwieght, but if I had been much bigger it would have been impossible to go to the loo! That aside ,we had a lovely time.
December 2009
Layout of the cottage is not ideal but did not spoil the holiday in a part of the country that we love. Only 1 problem arose on the last day due to very heavy rain, coupled with a north wind, leaking through the poorly fitting front door. An air vent in the front door (required by the gas board) let in a significant amount of water and both resulted in the small hallway becoming flooded. I presume this will have been rectified by the owners who seemed to really care about the property.
December 2009
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Lowick cottage, the cottage itself felt more like a home and was furnished well so we felt comforatble from day one would certantly visit Northunbria again. Plenty of interesting places to visit would recommend Holy Island, Alnwick Casle and as avid walkers the Cheviots close by. Only one downside to our stay the local pub in Lowick has been closed for some tiome so you need to amend your information regarding local amenities but apart from that do plan to return in the future.
