Brant View Countryside Cottage description

Holiday home
This lovely 17th century barn conversion is set on the owner's working farm within the Dales National Park and is just two miles from Sedbergh, Within easy reach of The Lake District, this charming property offers a spacious, split-level living area with an open fire and exposed wooden beams. This three bedroom cottage boasts stunning views from every window and is ideally positioned for touring the Lakes and Dales. Sedbergh, pronounced as Sed-Ber amongst the locals, is an ancient market town situated in northern Dentdale, just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town itself, with its narrow streets, little shops and traditional pubs also boasts a famous school dating back to 1536 and an impressive 12th Century church with an old-world atmosphere. Dentdale is often referred to as being 'the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales' and boasts rolling hills and dry stone walls. The windswept moors below Whernside is where the rivers Dee and Rawthey converge, whilst at the centre, the town of Dent offers cobbled streets which have existed since Norman times. There are three golf courses in the vicinity, as well as numerous facilities for tennis, riding, and fishing. With so much impressive, rugged scenery, the area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists alike. In addition, there are two National Parks nearby, making this an ideal year-round holiday destination.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

We had an amazing time. The property was close to amenities and attractions. Brant View has a warm and homely feel, with absolutely breathtaking views. The owners made us feel so welcome and they are two of the nicest people I have met. They were both very kind and helpful. My daughter has such fond memories of her time spent there and was sad to leave. We will definitely be going back next year and would highly recommend Brant View.

Sedbergh/Kirby Stephen area is quite literally Far from the Madding Crowd, much quieter than in the central Lake District. You can just walk around in the nearby hills that have fantastic views. The working farm is in a great setting, if you enjoy walking, and the owners were very friendly. On our trip in Easter we had sensational weather!
Mrs Barker

The cottage is placed in a quiet location with magnificent views, the owners were very welcoming and helpful. Due to the time of year, they had lambs that they allowed us and our child to bottle feed, and their dogs were very well behaved and patient. The open fire has to be experienced.

March 2013
Charming hosts, comfortable place to stay - we have stayed at Birks Farm - both in Brant View and Knotts View three times and would have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation. We stayed longer than a week at all times and Lilly was very kind to give us extra linen and towels too! The open fire place in Brants View was a joy and Alan got some logs for us... we enjoyed playing with the 3 dogs and had some wonderful walks around the area. There are some good eating places nearby - so all in all would def. go back

October 2013
Escaped to Brant View for a week of utter peace and quiet and got exactly that! The location is perfect being situated away from the main road and in the tranquility of the countryside. Only a few miles from Sedbergh for local amenities and very pleasant walks/ drives in the countryside. The house is perfect with plenty of space to chill out and relax. The kitchen is ample and cooking utensils are satisfactory. Very spacious sitting/ dining area and the real fire is a delight, especially at night time. Bedrooms comfortable and the wooden shutters on the windows certainly block out the light to ensure a good night's sleep. Would gladly recommend for those seeking to get away from it all!
Mr Halliday

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Brant View and it wont be the last, since the last time we visited Alan and Lily have added another good sized double bedroom and joy of joys a pool table. The property now sleeps 6, 1 x king, 1 x double and 2 x single beds. The cottage is very spacious and has been renovated to a high standard, the surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful. Being situated away from the main road its very quiet and peaceful and is a great place to kick back and relax. It is in an ideal spot to use as a base for both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District national parks. The owners are extremely friendly and are an absolute pleasure to deal with. This is the nicest cottage we have ever stayed in hence the 3 visits so far !!! and i would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.
