Briar description

Holiday home
Briar is an attractive, terraced cottage set on the Graythwaite Estate near Hawkshead in the Lake District. With three bedrooms including one double with en-suite and two singles, this cottage can sleep four people. There's also a shower room, a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with an open fire. Outside, there is ample off road parking, a private patio with furniture and BBQ and shared use of estate grounds and facilities. With access to an indoor heated pool, a children's play area, fly fishing lake and a fitness centre, plus the many delights of the Lake District on the doorstep, Briar provides a wonderful base for groups to enjoy a fantastic break.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Cars are banned from the village, leaving visitors free to wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th Century houses. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Four of us and three dogs stayed at the Briar Cottage for a week and were delighted with everything. The cottage is cosy, well equipped, in beautiful surroundings and gorgeous soft bedding. The group of cottages is very remote, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but we loved it. The swimming pool is an extra bonus and was used every day. The owners are so friendly, our Tesco delivery came two hours early, and by the time we arrived, food was sorted into fridge and freezer. Amazing service. Highly recommended!
