Holiday home Brook Cottage was originally built as a barn, but has been tastefully converted to offer accommodation for four people; ideal for small families or a small party of friends. The cottage has been built over a brook and has retained much of its original character through the exposed beams that can be found throughout. All the accommodation is laid out over one level an there is a large, enclosed patio area beside the stream; perfect for enjoying a spot of al fresco dining in the long, summer evenings. There is off-road parking for 1 car and the local amenities are a mere 10-minute walk from the front door.
Area Close to the border of Wiltshire and Somerset, Milton on Stour is only a short drive from the town of Gillingham. It is close to a number of major attractions, including Longleat House, the historical mansion and safari park that is owned by the eccentric Marquis of Bath. Nearby Gillingham hosts its own festival each year, comprising a range of musical styles, arts, crafts and sports activities. The National Trust owns many properties in the area and they are all worth a visit; Stourhead is a world-famous 18th Century landscape garden and Palladian mansion with enchanting temples, monuments and rare plants set around a tranquil lake. Alternatively, you might like to see a show at the Up In Smoke Theatre or spend a day at the Haynes Motor Museum.

The cottage is well furnished, clean and comfortable. The location is pleasant and convenient.
A lovely clean, well equipped, peaceful cottage. Had an enclosed area for dogs and a local field to walk dogs and let them off their lead. The lovely bath was much appreciated after long walks.
The entire holiday was lovely. The Cottage was well equipped and ideal for our needs.
A very beautiful and comfortable cottage. This was a last minute break, and the cottage proved to be a bonus. We particularly loved the stream flowing under the cottage with all its wildlife, and we hope to return next year.
Accommodation was very comfortable spotless. A very good position for exploring the area, with lots of good local walks too.
The property was first class. The area and the owners were very nice, and the countryside was outstanding. Good value for the money!
Well equipped and very clean cottage, pleasant and welcoming owner. Good location for seeing either Wiltshire or Dorset also close to Somerset providing you have your own transport.
Good location for lots of tourist attractions. Good restaurants in Gillingham and Shaftesbury.
Loved the walks we were able to do with our dogs, and of course we were so lucky with the weather.
The cottage was very clean and tidy, in fact the best we have stayed in. Tea and milk, and flowers were a nice touch on arrival.
The Dorset countryside was wonderful. The small villages were well kept and welcoming. I would highly recommend going to this part of England and staying at Brook Cottage, which was always nice to come back to.
The cottage is set in a beautiful location and is easily accessible to the places we visited.
Very well equipped and furnished. Everything was good quality and very clean. There were flowers when we arrived, which is always a lovely touch.
This was the first time we had stayed in a cottage in this country and for a first experience this was lovely. The accommodation was very well equipped, clean and comfortable so even though we weren't very lucky with the weather we had a great time. There was good walking nearby and its a lovely area.
Excellent cottage, very comfortable and in a nice location.
It was a good central location for travelling around. The cottage was well appointed and the owners very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
The location of the property was ideal. Plenty of allocated space for the dog to excercise on the farm. The property was particularly pleasant, overlooking the brook.
A nice part of the country to visit and the cottage helped make everything for our holiday complete. The pictures on the Sykes site didn't do the cottage justice. We're really happy and would recommend the cottage.
The cottage was lovely, and unusual with a stream running under it. The kitchen was well stocked and clean. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Far enough away from city life to completely relax, but the local life was just a short walk away. The cottage was comfy, warm, and inviting and had everything we needed for our chilled family Christmas. we will be recommending Brook Cottage to friends and may look to return in the summer.
What a delightful cottage Brook Cottage is, a really relaxing and peaceful location. Whilst on a working farm of sorts my wife and our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay. With walks on the doorstep and the delights of Dorset too, we were really hapy and satisfied. We asked the owner about the picture of this cottage, it was taken on a rainy day and we felt it let it down. If you stay here you'll relax and enjoy your stay.
Beautiful countryside, close to nature and accessibility to various places of interest for all tastes. The cottage over the brook I think must be quite unique. A very interesting setting especially with ducks and their families swimming under your bedroom! During periods of quiet, the sound of the water and the birds - ducks, jackdaws, swallows and many others (bats and owls). In the main a true country idyll with nice people. I would return.
Great locaion to explore boy's own adventure museums - Haynes motor museum, air and flight museum, tank museum, bath, salisbury, stonehenge, aveybury stones. miniature village...great location, peaceful and quiet.
A lovely cottage in a quiet location, with plenty of interesting places to visit within an hours drive.
