Set on opposite sides of the same tarn, Great Urswick and Little Urswick are wonderful spots for wildlife enthusiasts, with a wide selection of water birds occupying its sheltered corner. Also close by is Birkrigg Stone Circle - one of several prehistoric settlement sites in the surrounding area. The Haematite and Cumbrian Way footpaths start close by, whilst the town of Ulverston offers a variety of good quality shops and tea-rooms as well as a street market every Thursday and Saturday. In addition, the town is home to both a cinema and leisure centre, and is within easy reach of the Lake District National Park. The area also boasts numerous sandy beaches as well as good bird watching opportunities. Lakes Windermere and Coniston are within easy reach, as is the Lakeside Steam Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Muncaster Castle and the Aquarium of the Lakes.

It's hard to find anything to dislike. The cottage was clean, warm and cosy. A real little jem. We slept like logs. My husband and I used the cottage as a base to visit many local attractions. We were lucky enough for there to be a Victorian Fayre in Ulverston the weekend we were there, all of the market stall holders and shop owners dressed up and there was a lovely atmosphere. We had lots of long walks with our dog and we loved the stunning scenery.
Mrs Hutchinson
January 2012
Close proximity to family and home from home feel of the cottage.

July 2012
Cape Landings was wonderful, the location could not be better with the tarn just a few yards from the door. The cottage was beautifully furnished and really felt 'home from home'. There was absolutely everything you might need from a corkscrew to plenty of maps and walking books. We would highly recommend and can't wait to go back again.

The cottage was in beautiful location. Loved feeding the swans and seeing various birds. Very friendly neighbours. General Burgoyne Inn serves excellent food. Enclosed patio ideal for our dog. We have just re-booked for September.

August 2012
The cottage was lovely and the location ideal. Particularly so for me as I come from that area and it was just right for visiting favourite places and friends. Just a stones throw from the Lakes. Furness is a beautiful, little known area. The tame alpha male swan who comes for his supper was a delight. I shall book again
Mr Riggs

Nice quiet location by the tarn and lovely sunny patio garden at front of the property to sit out and relax in. Good walks locally and convenient for south-western lakes. Decor was very good and the dining area/conservatory a lovely feature.

May 2011
The setting for the cottage was lovely, being just by the tarn. A short distance up the lane we were able to walk the dog over open land with, on a good day, spectacular views over the Morecambe Bay estuary. Because in the main we had such bad weather windy, cold and very wet, we appreciated the warm comfort that the cottage offered us on return from our walks. We enjoyed the local pubs (good food), the people being so friendly and welcoming, not only to us, but to our dog as well.
Mrs Exton
October 2010
The cottage was in a good location for exploring the Southern Lakes. It also had its own views across the tarn just outside the front door. The cottage was comfortable and well furnished with plenty of supplies. The cottage is warm and cosy, ideal for a romantic weekend getaway as there are candles supplied. The conservatory/dining area is very pretty and you can eat your meal looking out over the tarn. An excellent addition to the property. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Ms Newman
August 2011
The location was perfect, a real rural idyll. The cottage was like a home from home and there were so many little details, patio seating front and rear and a great choice of books and DVDs, that helped us feel we lacked for nothing.

March 2010
This cottage was so comfortable. It was truly a home from home. I really loved this cottage particularly for its location. Very accessible to open spaces of great beauty, yet very secluded with a lovely tucked up feeling. The cottage was plenty big enough for a couple and a child or three adults. It had all mod cons and beauty all around.
Miss Adams

October 2013
Cape Landing was a perfect home away from home! It was the perfect location for our home base during our visit to England from Canada this past august! The cottage had everything we needed! It is quiet, comfortable and welcoming
November 2010
A very relaxing holiday, all that was needed was found in the cottage.
October 2011
Cape Landings was easy to find and a good centre foe exploring the Lake District. It was comfortable and well equipped. View of Tarn downstairs was a bit spoilt by neighbours tree.upstairs view beautiful. Shame cottege opposite had scaffolding up and workman which spoilt the view and a bit disturbing first thing. But not owners fault.
September 2016
Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely little cottage and well equipped. Two good local pubs - General Burgoyne very friendly staff (and locals) and serves good food. The Derby is also good but does not serve food. Great base to go into Ulverston, Cartmel plus other lovely villages. Good for walks too. Motor museum good for a visit. Visiting swans were really lovely. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
June 2012
This is a great cottage with superb facilities and pretty much all you need. We loved this place and hope to return sometime, the owners seem to have thought of most things that poeple might need even down to local maps and walking books which were really useful. The setting is amazing just a few metres away from a tarn. This is a great location in a small peaceful village with a gastro pub within walking distance. The lakes are only a short drive away and there is fantastic walking country on the doorstep. The only disapointing thing was no wifi.
May 2010
Our stay at this cottage was lovely. Very secluded. Just big enough for two, or maybe 2 and a child. There is everything you need here. Lovely area. Owners very contactible and neighbours friendly.
June 2010
good cottage, good location, well equiped, very good and helpfull neighbour, just needed sun loungers to make it complete, we found good food and drink a short walk away and loads more a short drive away,
