Cedar Log Cabin description

Holiday home
This attractive, handmade Western Red Cedar log cabin is located in a five-acre paddock in the grounds of Brynallt Country Park. Situated on the edge of Welsh Frankton and just three miles from the famous lakes at Ellesmere, this cabin is a charming alternative to the usual Shropshire cottages. Offering high quality, open plan accommodation with contemporary fixtures and furnishings throughout, the spacious property is able to sleep up to four people and boasts a front terrace which overlooks the paddock, and is perfect for relaxing.

Area
Set between the famous village of Whittington - the birthplace of the first Lord Mayor of London - and the town of Ellesmere, a pretty market town with Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings, the tiny hamlet of Welsh Frankton is located close to a beautiful lake and the Shropshire/Llangollen Canal. Originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon settlement, the nearby town of Ellesmere is steeped in history and is home to the lovely Church of Saint Mary, with its 15th Century roof. There are a wide variety of shops, good pubs and restaurants in the settlement, as well as an abundance of entertainment on and around the nine lakes which surround the town. Guests can stroll through Cremorne Gardens, enjoy fishing and sailing, or explore Colemere Country Park with its wonderful wildlife and scenic walks.

Region
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Amenities
Solar heating for hot water and oil-filled radiators. Double electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, 3 x wall-mounted flat screen combi TV/DVD. The cabin is located in a peaceful beautiful location with glorious views. There were no vehicles to be seen or heard and you are more likely to see rabbits than people. It is only minutes from local villages and could not be better for a relaxing holiday. The owners are wonderful and attentive and can't do enough to help. It is fantastic for dogs as the grounds are ideal. We will return next year.

The property was particularly well located with excellent facilities for myself and partner as well as our 2 dogs. The owner, who was there to greet us was a super person and made us feel very welcome. There is plenty of walking to be had from the property and the local towns and canals were very interesting. We'll be returning to the property for another very relaxing holiday.

I cannot begin to tell you how pleased we were with our holiday accommodation, I have never been away and had everything, and I mean everything I could need in a kitchen, it was a real home from home. Also the little touches when we arrived very thoughtful, thank you.

The peace and serenity of the area. The Cabin is fitted out to a high standard and stands in 5 acres of parkland. We could not have wished for a nicer situation and holiday - so relaxing.

Great for a break with dogs, 5 acres for them to roam whilst you sit on the veranda drinking your beverage of choice. A well laid out cabin, everything you would want; TV's in the living room and bedrooms, crockery, utensils and a dish washer for the lazy.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and this was our first holiday with our dog. So dog friendly was essential. The place was so welcoming, the wine, the chocolates, the under floor heating and dressing gowns - it was just wonderful. The place was beautiful and scenery was amazing. Really just a perfect getaway from the busy life and a chance to relax and unwind. The owners were a delight to meet and everything was just perfect. Really really 5*! Outside space for our pooch was great. He just loved it!

Staying at the Cedar Log Cabin was a great experience, we loved it! The cabin has everything you need to make your stay pleasurable. The quality of the furnishings is good and it was nice and clean too. We went in November and the cabin was warm and cosy and the dogs loved the underfloor heating! The cabin is well located and we found plenty to do during our stay. We picked an excellent property. Thanks to the owner - we'll definitely be back!

The welcome we received from our hosts was exemplary, with first rate recommendations on places to visit and the best local eateries to use. Ours was only a short visit (this time) and we have already passed the details to family and friends and wholeheartedly recommend the Cedar Log Cabin for a fabulous break.

The very high standard of the property, the attention to detail was second to none. The peaceful location, but within easy reach of nearby town. The 5 acres of land in which the log cabin was set, this was particularly good for our 2 dogs.

I've stayed in some lovely cabins but this beats them all, every comfort has been attended to, no expense spared. Wonderfully warm welcome from the owners with chocolates and wine. Our dogs had free roaming of the huge private meadow and loved being off lead. We'll definately be going back.

Had fantastic stay once again at the cedar log cabin, this was our second visit and we have also booked to go back for 2 weeks in september. It is very comfortable as it is very well equipped, having en suite is great and it has a fantastic power shower. It is such a lovely cabin there is nothing it doesn't have. The grounds are amazing as we have 2 German Shepherds who just love the freedom they don't want to come in. It is so peacefull and relaxing and has lovely walks and also lovely places to eat. Mike and Sylvia who own the cabin are the nicest people you could meet, the are so friendly and nothing is a bother to them, they are so welcoming they make you want to come back.

The cabin is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need for a great holiday from kitchen utensils to fluffy bathrobes. It is spacious inside and the grounds outside are superb making this a perfect retreat for a truly relaxing break and ideal for dog lovers. Absolutely everything has been thought off by the owners. The surrounding area has great country pubs that serve fantastic locally produced food and the area is great for walkers. The Log Cabin is a very special place...so tranquil. It 's setting is perfect and during my stay I saw beautiful frosts, sunrises and sunsets from its location at the top of the Paddock. Inside, the Cabin has everything you require for a very comfortable stay and all of a very high standard. I stayed there alone but it is feels very quiet and safe. It also provides for an extremely relaxing holiday. Ideal for exploring Shropshire and Wales as there are so many lovely places to visit within quite a short drive. The owners are delightful and extremely helpful. I have no hesitation in stating that it is indeed 5 Star..

Very impressed with the cabin! Two bedrooms (double and 2 singles, sleeps 4), double room as a small ensuite. Main bathroom, living/kitchen/dining area. Kitchen has an electric oven, microwave and everything else you could possibly need to cook. Has a dishwasher and a Large fridge/freezer. Freezer has 4 draws. I would suggest you bring your own frying pan if you need one. The one in the cabin tends to make everything stick to it. Although there are bits of cleaning materials available, we could not find any kitchen/work surface cleaner, so would suggest you bring some. The lounge area has a large 3 seater settee and two armchairs, a flatscreen tv with built in dvd player, a selection of books, games and leaflets with local information on. There is even one for a chinese takeaway! Large bathroom has a shower over bath and the en suite bathroom has a shower cubicle. Toilet roll, soap, air freshner, shower towels and hand towels all provided. Wardrobes in each bedroom and extremely comfy beds with small flat screen tv in each bedroom. The front patio has four chairs and two tables and I think from the pictures on here, a BBQ, although that was not there when we went. The weather was beautiful and it would have been lovely to have a BBQ. There is a washing line at the back of the cabin. The bonus was being able to take the dog. She loved going out of the front door in the morning, without a lead, and walking straight out into the huge paddock. The very end of the paddock (opposite end to the cabin), is not secure for dogs and they could easily wander out into the road. The cabin is the only one in the grounds and the space and views are amazing. The only two issues I had, were (1) On two of our days, there was a lot of tree cutting going on. Whilst I appreciate that with the recent bad weather, there has been, for two days we had a very loud saw and a digger driving up and down past the cabin, which did not make it very peaceful! 2) There are a lot of cobwebs on the wall, the cleaner just needs to give them a quick swipe with the feather duster. Otherwise the cabin is very clean. There appears to be a lot of repeat visitors here and we would definately return. Really enjoyed everything about the cabin and it's location. It is truly stunning and I would recommend.

It was first class accommodation with particular attention to detail. The Log Cabin was very comfortable in all aspects. Got a really good night's sleep as the bed was so comfortable and the property was so quiet. It was a real 'home from home' with all you could wish for. It exceeded our expectations.

Stayed here at the end of June - with my husband and our 2 dogs We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet. Secluded enough to allow the dogs to be free all day but close enough to civilisation to enjoy pub lunches and walks with the dogs. The cabin is just right, very comfortable and well maintained with 2 good bedrooms, one with a small ensuite shower room. The ktichen was well stocked with all the utensils you could need, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc.. The veranda was great for an early morning cup of coffee, while watching the rabbits enjoy the early sunshine. The dogs loved it and spent most of the day outside and were able to run around to their hearts content.

Stayed here for a week with our dog. This cabin is just perfect. It has everything you need for a relaxing holiday in an idyllic location. Bread, butter and milk waiting for us upon our arrival and then the owner arrived with wine and chocolates! Ultra clean cabin and fully enclosed field for our dog. We really really didn't want to leave. Have already booked another week for next year.

I have just returned from my third stay at the Cabin this year. Returning in July, September and November. For me it is a unique location, a haven of peace and tranquility with nothing to be heard except the sound of birds. This makes for a very relaxing stay. I found the Cabin to be very well equipped with everything I needed both in the kitchen and elsewhere. The owners are more than willing to help with information regarding the area or indeed with any other question and go out of their way to make sure that everything is 1st class. I cannot find anything negative to say about the Cabin and would most definitely highly recommend it for all the reasons above and its proximity to many lovely places to visit.
