Built in 1620, this former drovers’ inn now forms a superb holiday cottage, attractively furnished and comfortable, with oak beams throughout and two wood-burning stoves to provide a cosy retreat in the winter months. Standing detached in an elevated position, it is set in a peaceful and pleasant location and enjoys spectacular, far-reaching views over rolling countryside to Snowdonia beyond. The patio area is ideal for barbecues and enjoying the wonderful views.

Close by is Betws-y-Coed (3 miles), an outstanding 19th-century village, with wonderful walks, lakes and pretty waterfalls. Nearby Llangollen is home to the Welsh Eisteddfodd and offers lively events all year round. A good selection of craft shops in the village sell the famous locally-made Welsh love spoons and rock. Horse-drawn boat rides can be enjoyed on the canal here as well as trips on the steam railway.

Beddgelert is an enchanting village with beautiful riverside walks amidst majestic mountain scenery, and for more walking opportunities in breathtaking landcapes, Llanberis is within easy driving distance. Nestling at the foot of Mount Snowdon, the town also offers a slate museum, Llanberis Lake Railway, the Mountain Railway and the fascinating and informative Electric Mountain. Golf course, skiing and canoeing can be enjoyed nearby, and other activities in the surrounding area include climbing, paragliding, orienteering, horse riding and fishing. Llandudno 20 miles. The place was just magical. Everything was perfect. More than we expected. Farm fresh eggs next morning for a true farmhouse breakfast. The place was large enough for us all to get lost in the property. Log fire was such a treat. We wanted for nothing and will visit again. Thanks for having such a beautiful place available. Well recommended, especially waking up with the view of Snowdon from the bedroom...

Great little cottage, perfectly comfortable for 10 people, well equipped, fantastic views and completely tucked away in the middle of nowhere but still close enough to local ameinities. Nothing to advise other than bring your own bin liners and washing powder! And that the photographs on the website don’t do it justice!

Own transport good for walking not biking unless enthusiast. Plan trips in advance don’t visit seaside at weekends parking is a real problem. Snowdon railway expensive for a large party, bearing in mind the cottage has accommodation for 10. Photographers might find excellent opportunities.

Very pretty, well furnished, however the night storage heaters we were told on arrival would not be working until the morning, though there were log fires in the downstairs rooms. However throughout our stay there was no hot water in the kitchen or the bathroom, only a hot electric shower.

We had a lovely time at Cefn Cestyll - probably one of the best places we have stayed in Wales. The views from the cottage are idyllic, the facilities are very welcoming and comfortable. the owner was very friendly and helpful. we will definitely go back some time....

It was an Ideal location for the activities i had planned for the week. It also benefitted with access to a local gym which went down very well with us all as it compensates for an indoor pool at a fraction of the price.

The cottage is surrounded by maginificients landscapes, it is remote from the main town so very quiet. Perfect for a retreat in the countryside and very close to Snowdo for those brave enough to go up to the top!
