Located at the quiet, seaward end of Chapel Street, this historic Grade II listed town house has been carefully and lovingly restored, respecting its long history. There are glimpses of the sea and harbour from different areas of the house. It has a period open fireplace, an original Cornish granite frontage and wooden sash windows, but has been brought thoroughly up-to-date with all the luxuries of a modern retreat, including a Sonos music system throughout the house, making it perfect for all seasons.
Come in winter and you’ll have a snug, romantic shelter from the spectacular storms that batter the promenade between Penzance and Newlyn. Shore up against the weather next to the open fire – or venture a few doors up to the one-time smugglers’ haunt, The Turk’s Head pub, one of the oldest pubs in Cornwall.
Perfect in spring and summer, this smart cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the coastal treasures of West Cornwall, starting with the architecturally stunning art deco Jubilee Pool, just a minute’s walk from the front door. This triangular open-air lido, filled with seawater, is an iconic feature of Penzance. With a history stretching back to the Bronze Age, Penzance is a sunny, bohemian coastal town in West Cornwall, full of ancient nooks and crannies, old buildings and quirky streets. Nowhere is its character more vividly felt than on the town’s oldest street – the winding and atmospheric Chapel Street, which meanders down to the sea. The street is now lined with independent boutiques, antique shops, galleries, restaurants and pubs, all occupying centuries-old properties. Penzance looks over the sweeping Mounts Bay with its white sandy beach and St Michaels Mount proudly sitting on its rocky outcrop, which can be visited on foot via the causeway at low tide or by small ferry boat at high tide.
Further round the coast will lead you to Mousehole, a quaint Cornish harbour with a small beach and tales of the famous Mousehole Cat, a restaurant on the quay, local pub, and arts and crafts shops. Mousehole is a great Christmas and New Year location with the buzz of the famous Christmas lights. There are many places to visit such as the beautiful Lamorna Cove, Lands End, the famous white sand surfing cove of Sennen, and the romantic open air Minack Theatre, which is cut into the cliff face with the ocean as a back drop. There are many hidden coves and coastal paths, wildlife, bird marshes and daily trips to the beautiful Isles of Scilly. Beach ½ mile. Shop 250 yards, pub and restaurants 500 yards.
