Christmas Cottage description

Holiday home
Christmas Cottage is a fabulous, Grade II listed, end-terrace stone cottage in the heart of Addingham. This quirky cottage, combining original and contemporary features, is set over three floors with a double and a twin bedroom on the second floor. There is a family bathroom and a second sitting room with a single sofa bed on the first floor, with an open plan living area on the ground floor featuring a kitchen, a dining area, and a sitting area with a woodburning stove. Outside, there is roadside parking on a first come, first serve basis, with all the amenities of Addingham right on the doorstep. Christmas Cottage is the perfect escape four couples, friends and families exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

Situated between Ilkley and Skipton is the historic village of Addingham. The village is in the valley of the River Wharfe and is home to several good pubs that serve ales and food, a scattering of small shops and a golf course. Just three miles away is Bolton Abbey, which is one of the most wonderful and scenic areas in the region and a walk along the river to the 'Strid' is essential. Both close by is the Victorian Spa town of Ilkley and the town of Skipton, which are both well worth visiting.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Location - we really enjoyed Addingham and the surrounding area. Public transport excellent - this cottage could be marketed as suitable for someone without a car

Christmas cottage was a real quirky delight, from the retro styling to the fairy lights on the landing and in the bathroom. The position of the property was ideal, it is in a terrific village with lots of amenities. The beds were so comfortable, a long lie in and a lazy breakfast was a highlight.

Absolutely delightful, can't wait to return.

The Cottage itself was quirky and good fun, yet seriously well-equipped, and everything worked. It was in a great position both for accessing the Dales, and for local amenities. We were lucky, the weather was great, and everything went very smoothly.

Unlike many holiday lets there are all the comforts that you would expect in your own home. The heating is excellent and touches like good quality kitchen ware do not go unnoticed. The solid wooden stairs to the top two floors show the wear of hundreds of years of foot traffic and add to the character of the building. It's a wonderful part of the world with sites like Bolton Abbey only a few minutes drive away. It's probably the best holiday let I've stayed in and other landlords could learn a great deal from the owners of Christmas Cottage.

We are just home from our long weekend break at Christmas Cottage and we all had such a fantastic time! Addingham village is lovely, although such a shame that the pub right across the road was recently burnt down as we had heard how nice it was and we're looking forward to a visit. The lady who owns Christmas Cottage has created a little gem of a holiday let, and has thought of every last detail. In our party, there were 4 adults and 2 infants under the age of 2. We were initially a but apprehensive about sleeping arrangements, but we were very lucky that the babies were able to share their own room so that us mums and dads could get a few peaceful nights sleep! The cottage comes complete with all the mod cons you could think of - even a hand blender which was very handy for blitzing some soup :) The only thing we could think of which might enhance the stay of future young families would be the provision of a travel cot and a high chair. We were fortunate enough to have room in the car to bring them with us, but it would have been an extra bonus had they been provided. Addingham is a great base for exploring the Dales and other neighboring towns. Ilkley looked really lovely in particular, although we just didn't have enough time to explore it properly. Maybe when we come back, we'll sample some delights from the famous Betty's Tea Rooms!
