We had a wonderful holiday - to call this a cottage is a gross understatement! It is a beautiful house in gorgeous surroundings, perfect for a relaxing holiday. I wish I could wave a magic wand and transfer it to my garden! Nobody could ask for more, everything we needed more was provided!

Churnet Valley Cottage is way above the standard of other cottages in this price range. Superbly equipped, spotlessly clean, roomy and comfortable. Nice garden, private and quiet, loads of space to park. We found good beer and food within walking distance. What more could you ask for. Highly recommended.

The cottage was very clean and had everything you needed. The garden was completely safe to let the dogs run around in and not have to worry about them finding a place to escape. Everything you would need was here and there was a nice pub just a minute walk down the hill next to the steam railway.

Cottage fully surpassed our expectations, there was nothing which was required that had not already been thought of and subsequently been provided within the premises. Location was great, next to a lovely little pub and ideal for our trip to Alton Towers. The owner of the property was very thoughtful and made contact on the day of arrival to enquire if everything was in order and also advised that she was only at the other end of the phone if we had any problems. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and would be very delighted to visit it again, Thank you.

We have to say, this was the most amazing property we have ever stayed in and we loved every minute of our time here. From the house itself to the local surroundings and towns we felt so at home. The house had everything you could wish for making it an extremely homely property and was very clean and tidy inside. We could not have wished for a better stay and it certainly wont be long before we're back again!

Fantastic property. Everything you could wish for. The garden was great for the kids and dog. The owners had provided everything you would need and this property really is a 'home form home'. Attention to detail, including dog towels, having the heating on for our arrival was brilliant.

If you are looking for a clean, cosy-but-spacious, pet friendly cottage, this is the one for you. The location combines the benefits of easy access from the A52 with being only 2 minutes drive from scenic country roads to the nearby attractions of Derbyshire. (Leaving the property by car is, however, to be taken extremely carefully due to the steep drive which exits directly on to the A52). For the kids, Alton Towers is also literally a 15 minute scenic drive away. We tried several pubs in the area, but our best meals (and beer!) were enjoyed at the Railway Inn, 2 minutes walk down the road. The cottage is equipped with just about everything you need for day to day living, and the garden has good views and is very safe for even the smallest dog. We will return!!

Brilliant 3 bedroom cottage, roomy and comfortable. Spotlessly clean, really well equipped, comfortable beds, quiet and private location....slept like a log !!. I rented the cottage whilst working in the area for 3 weeks and couldn't have picked a better place. Had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Loads of outside space with plenty of private parking. The standard of fittings and equipment is way above the normal holiday cottage, and I have rented many over the years. Good pub providing excellent meals just over the road, two good supermarkets within ten minutes drive but the cottage itself in a quiet scenic spot. A steam train chugs past the back garden at weekends, possibly more often during the summer ?. I honestly could not fault the house at all, fantastic value for money, I will be back, hopefully with the family next time.

The accomodation was perfect for 3 couples, each room was spacious, with comfy beds, and the size of the lounge, dining table and kitchen meant we could all hang out, eat and cook together, without getting in one another's way. The house had everything we needed and it was so nice that the basics were there to get the holiday started, such as spare loo roll, hand soap and bin bags - little things I know, but they make a difference! From the property it's really easy to get to Froghall Wharf; where loads of different circular and linear walks start. We explored this area around the canals, river, railway and woodlands, and would highly recommend others do the same. It's easy, beautiful walking - with pubs en-route. We'll be back again!

We had a great week visiting various attractions. 8-10 minutes by car to Alton Towers although still go early and well before 10am opening otherwise a 10 minute trip can turn into an hour sitting in queues to get in to the car park. Hawthorn Park Follies definately worth a trip and great for the dogs. Next door to the Churnet Valley Steam Train Station which was another attraction we could tke the dogs. The house was perfect for our family of 5 and two dogs to call home for the week. We cooked, ordered take aways and had some lovely meals in near by pubs and restaurants. There were plenty of leaflets in the house for things to do and places to eat. A lovely touch were the towels in the utility room especially for the dogs. Considering it is rented to visitors with pets, the house was very clean and well maintained. Excellent value for money.
August 2014
Very well presented property with detail given to making your stay comfortable. Very clean, & it was nice to be able to take the dogs & be at ease. Good walks & lots of nice places to eat.
August 2014
This cottage was in the perfect location for our family holiday consisting of mainly visiting Alton Towers and the Water park - ten minutes away on quiet roads. Cottage was spacious, well presented, lovely views and great garden with bbq. Couldn't fault it except for one thing the drive to the cottage is on a very steep hill with a very awkward, practically blind access onto a fast road at times, Easily solved however with a mirror across the road to aid the driver in getting out. Then it really would be 100% perfect. Great memories :)

Stayed at the property whilst having work done on my own home. The owner very friendly and welcoming giving lots of local knowledge, the house was very clean and tidy. I had absolutely no issues with my stay. I would recommend the property for anyone wanting to holiday/visit the local area and for, Peak District, Alton Towers, Leek, Stoke on trent, North Staffs as there are good road links for all these places aswell.
