We've just returned from a family weekend away at Covercote. When we arrived the house was warm, cosy and immaculate. I would recommend reading the instructions of how to get there before setting off (an error on my part!) as there is little or no mobile signal in the surrounding areas. The surrounding area was beautiful, we had some lovely walks and saw some really pretty scenery. Horsehouse is quite remote with only one pub just 2 minutes walk away. It's open 12-2 then again in the evening. The landlord was a friendly chap who was very accommodating. We ate out at three other pubs in the surrounding area, all did great food and the service was spot on (The Blue Lion - East Witton, The Sandpiper Inn - Leyburn, The Foresters - Carlton). We had to drive to all the pubs but all within 30mins drive. Overall we had a great weekend. I'd definitely recommend and I'm sure we will be back in 2015! Thanks, Hannah x

8 of us stayed at Covercote for 3 nights on the weekend and it was absolutely lovely. Close to walks and public footpaths and the property has been fitted to a great standard. There was plenty of room and it never felt that we were on top of each other. The group had a great time and would definitely love to visit again.

The village the house is situated in is remote but lovely and there were wonderful views from the property. It was a great base for a group get together and we found some really nice walks from the village up into the surrounding hills. The house was to a great standard and was well equipped for a group including small children.

The location was perfect. There were fantastic views from the house and it was a great base for walking in a peaceful and untouched Dale. The house was great for a family gathering; in particular the kitchen was a really lovely space and there was great excitement about the rainfall showers! Covercote is quite a large house but it was warm and cosy throughout; great to return home to after an absolute drenching on the hills. We have been staying in the Dales for over 20 years and I think this is easily the most attractive and comfortable house that we have stayed in. Thank you!

The house was a perfect fit for our large, mainly adult group. The kitchen was a good size and well kitted out, so making Christmas lunch was made extra easy. The bedrooms were a good size with good wardrobe/drawer space and wonderful beds, duvets and pillows, and the bathrooms were superb. Felt we were in a luxurious hotel!! The setting of the village of Horsehouse was beautiful, and a pub only a minute away, was an ideal holiday accessory! With walks and mountain bike riding from the door, it was an ideal spot.

This was a great holiday house. An excellent base to explore the Dales, we really appreciated the peace and quiet of the setting, and found some great walks from the house. The house was so cosy and good to go back to at the end of the day. We also appreciated the internet access and the use of a phone if needed.

Spacious accommodation, super comfortable beds, picturesque setting and a lovely kitchen in which to prepare our own meals. The icing on the cake was the lovely piano. It was used a lot for piano and oboe duets when it was raining!

Covercote was in a lovely setting with great views and a friendly local pub landlord. Other towns were within easy reach and the area provided walks and good running/cycling for the more energetic in our party. Good feel to the house, and what a kitchen! We even made our own bread!

One of the best cottages we've ever stayed in - if not the best. We enjoyed the underfloor heating, the piano, and it was useful to have WiFi. Plenty of room too for 2 large families. We were made to feel very welcome by a personalised card and bottle of wine left by the owners.

There was lots of space for a large group of various ages. The cleaning lady was helpful and by our experience keeps a spotless property. I would think this is perfect for Xmas or New Year.

Warm and welcoming when we arrived. 4 couples and 1 toddler for a relaxing weekend of food, walks and boardgames. There dining area was the perfect size for everyone to sit around a relax with a high chair for the toddler. The kitchen was well equiped and modern and the option of 2 living rooms, both with cosy woodburners. The views were lovely, especially with the frosty mornings that we had and there was no need to drive somewhere to go for a walk as there were a few options from the doorstep. A nice big garden for the dog to run around also.
