The cottage is situated next door to the house of the owners who were friendly and made us welcome. Upstairs is a large, light and pleasant living room, a nice bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. There is also a terrace overlooking the owners' beautiful garden. The only drawback is that, because the cottage is built on a sloping site, the bedrooms are downstairs and built into the hill, with the result that they are a little darker than we would have liked.
The location is good, quite close to the centre of Haltwhistle but on a quiet street. Haltwhistle itself is pleasant, although a little underwhelming, but the nearby countryside and Hadrian's Wall are wonderful.
