Daisy Brae Coastal Cottage description

Holiday home
Daisy Brae is a single-storey cottage in the village of Salen, on the lovely Isle of Mull. The cottage has a double bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen with breakfast bar and a sitting room with dining area and woodburning stove. Outside is off road parking for one car, and a lawend garden with furniture and stream. Daisy Brae is a short walk from the village amenities, and Salen itself is perfectly placed for enjoying the wildlife and spectacular scenery of Mull and beyond.

Set on the narrowest part of the lovely Isle of Mull, Salen is a small village with a couple of hotels, a restaurant and a coffee shop. There is an agricultural show held just outside Salen each August. Outdoor pursuits in this area include mountain biking, walking, bird watching and pony trekking. Dramatic coastal scenery at Calgary Bay and the Gribun rocks make this a great base for artists or simply anyone seeking to blow the cobwebs away. The islands capital town, Tobermory, is 16 miles away, and has a choice of restaurants and other amenities.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Electric storage heating with woodburner. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, TV with FreeSat, DVD, iPod dock, broadband internet, selection of books, games and DVDs. An excellent location, and generally a cosy place to stay.

Daisy Brae was a cosy little cottage; really warm and clean. The kitchen is very well equipped. We loved having the wood burner. There was plenty of space for two people and most of the furniture was really high quality. In terms of location it was excellent; being in the middle of the island really worked for us and it was only ten minutes from Loch na Keal which we found to be our favourite place on the island. There is a shop across the road which was really handy. Overall I would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and family and would love to stay there again.

The cottage was tastefully decorated, cosy and clean and the kitchen was extremely well stocked with cooking utensils. The cottage was also wonderfully situated for access to all part of Mull.

This is a cosy little cottage, perfect for two people. Everything you needed to prepare meals even salt, pepper and seasonings. The best part of holiday was the puffins on our Treshnish Isles trip!

Lovely cottage, lovely island, lovely experience.

The cottage was lovely and cosy especially with the multi-fuel stove. Cottage provided everything needed including some things not expected like docking station for Ipod, plenty of places to hang wet clothes that dried over night.

Beautiful, quiet yet convenient location, can't think of a more useful place to stay on Mull. Only 10 minutes from Tobermory, 10 minutess from the Oban ferry, and directly on the crossroads for the scenic roads of Mull. Good shop and post office across the road, pub just a short walk away. Everything about the cottage was lovely, from the well stocked kitchen to the cosy living room.

Daisy Brae was a cosy, warm, comfortable cottage. There was plenty of space for two people. The kitchen was well equipped and the cottage had loads of maps and leaflets about Mull, We enjoyed having the log burner on a particularly cold, wet day. The cottage is in an excellent location, been in the middle of the island meant you could get anywhere easily. There is a shop across the road which was really handy. Definitely recommend it, we felt so at home and didn't want to leave.

Daisy Brae cottage is in a great location with easy access to restaurants and the local shops. Everything you could need on holiday has been thought about, with the cottage really well equipped. We thought the bed and the couch were very comfortable, and perfect to come back to after a long day exploring the island. It was very homely with the inclusion of the internet and DVDs, and we will be more than happy to book this cottage again. The owners are lovely and very helpful.

Easy access and well laid out, both inside and out. Kitchen well stocked with all equipment we required. Handy bus stops outside for Tobermory and to Iona. Needed the fire once and it was really comfortable.

Lovely roomy cottage for 2 with a well equipped kitchen. The living room was very cosy when we lit the wood burning stove . A few minor snags like finding the shower difficult prevent us from giving 5 stars but really I would recommend this cottage to any couple. The hens and ducks from next door add to its charm.

A perfect cottage for two and handy to visit all parts of the island. Just opposite small supermarket and post office for supplies and cash bank. Kitchen excellent, ate in 6 out of 7 nights and had everything needed including salt, pepper and spices. Although we had gone prepared washing up liquid was also supplied.lovely comfy bed and cosy lounge. It was the end of July when we visited so didn't need heat but the fire place would be great in winter. The highlight of our visit was the trip to the Treshnish Isles and the amazing puffins etc plus sea eagles as we sailed back! Definitely plan to return.

Cottage is well equipped, nicely decorated, comfortable and wonderfully clean. But if you want a peaceful, quiet retreat on Mull this is not the one for you. Cottage is on the main a849 from Craignurie to Tobermory, which is a surprisingly busy road. There is a coach stop right outside the cottage, and the noise from the diesel engines about 10 feet from bedroom window is disturbing, to say the least. There is a spar shop and PO opposite the property, and while this is handy for emergency shopping, there is also the noise of delivery lorries and mail vans and constant coming and going to its car park.Salen itself seems to be a quiet village, but this cottage must be one of the noisiest in it.

Had a lovely week at Daisy Brae. The cottage, being in Salen, is great for touring all parts of Mull. The property is very well equiped and maintained. It is situated across the road from a very we'll stocked shop and a few hundred yards from the local pub We would certainly return

We stayed here for a week. Beautiful, quiet, yet convenient location. Can't think of a more useful place to stay on Mull. Only 10 mins from Tobermory, 10 mins from the Oban ferry, and directly on the crossroads for the scenic roads of mull. Good shop and post office across the road, pub just a short walk away. Everything about the cottage was lovely, from the well stocked kitchen to the cosy living room. We particularly enjoyed eating our breakfast in the kitchen, watching the birds, pheasants, hens, rabbits and sheep(!) wandering around. Great supply of walking books and OS maps, these were well used as we walked almost every day. Overall just fab. The owner was very friendly and informative on the phone too. Main downside was that the stove was a bit temperamental. We have one at home so generally know how to work them, but it didn't draw well even with well seasoned wood and kindling and would inevitably just smoulder. The heating, however, was excellent, so it wasn't a problem. The TV also had poor sound quality.. it was a challenge to watch the supplied DVDs on the only day we stayed in. Again not a deal breaker at all. We don't go on holiday to watch films!

Daisy Brae is a cosy cottage excellently located for touring the island and very convenient for shop, Post Office and local eateries. It is warm with both storage heaters and fixed convector heaters and has a really good drying area, It is very clean throughout and mostly well-equipped. But the television is a joke (i didn't know they made them so small) and although the description says that the property has FRESAT and internet it is not connected to provide back-up TV. There does however need to be some maintenance as the shower has not yet been fixed (it is nearly impossible to turn on), the bracket holding the shower head is hanging off the wall and the door to the top oven is broken off. And the' garden' has not had any attention in a long time. The property is not, despite what others have said, suitable for the elderly or infirm. My wife has a slight mobility problem following a broken hip and she could not cope with the low furniture (settee, bed and even the dining chairs). Having to always use the bottom oven made cooking difficult. Having struggled for several days we left on the Thursday morning rather than stay until Saturday.

Most beautiful cottage, so well equipped. Home from home.

The cottage was nicely situated with regards to the ferry and Tobermory. It was great to have a log burner in the sitting room, especially as it was quite cold at times. Mull is beautiful and we enjoyed the scenery and the friendly local people.
