A nice little cottage to relax in and a great village and location for exploring the Peak District.

I highly recommend this property. Dove Cottage formed a great base for our week in the Peak District, with lots of charm and easy access from the village.

This is a small house in need of some updating. The bed was uncomfortable, the mattress was worn with a big dent in it. Not a very comfortable place to spend a holiday and not particularly good value for money. But it is in a good location for the peaks (albeit on a reasonably main road).

Stunning little cottage in a lovely village with local pubs and shop in walking distance. The odd lorry going up and down the road are a little noisy. The log burning stove is lovely and the bed is super comfy, however the blinds are really thin (see through!), the central heating timer is very noisy (constant) and the wet room is a nuisance. Overall this cottage is a lovely cottage in a lovely village in a perfect location for exploring the area.

Lovely little cottage, tastefully renovated, all that is needed for 2 or 3 people. Free wifi was greatly appreciated. I think the curtains have been changed since the last review, as they were absolutely fine. Well done on the wet room which would have been a difficult renovation to achieve. The shower mixer is a great design, but needs a bigger shower space. The location was a great base for touring the stunning Peak District. During our 1 week stay, we travelled to Huddersfield, Peniston, Bakewell, Buxton, Peak Rail at Rowsley, Midland Railway Centre at Kettering, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at Wirksworth, Crich Tramway Museum, Manchester, Oldham, Speedwell Cavern. The Monsal Dale Rail Trail was a real highlight of the trip, need to set aside some time to enjoy that one. Also Massons Mill at Matlock Bath was fascinating, given the history of the region.

Our first impressions of Dove Cottage were very good: clean and comfortable with a welcome pack including tea, coffee and milk provided. It is a cosy cottage, perfect for two with a very well equipped kitchen and open plan lounge area to relax in. Another point in its favour is the fact that items such as washing up liquid, handwash and dishwasher tablets were provided. Overall this cottage has been well adapted, bearing in mind its age and size, to make holiday accommodation for two. The village of Tideswell itself is fabulous with: a number of good shops / places to drink coffee and eat cakes; a very good fish and chip shop; several pubs with the one opposite selling a choice of real ales and a number of excellent walks from the village so no need to drive anywhere. It was also very easy to get to various destinations including Buxton, Bakewell, Eyam, the Monsal Trail and many others. We were very happy with this cottage and would not hesitate to recommend it.
