LOCATION Overlooking the unspoilt sandy beaches of the delightful former fishing village of Hope Cove and within just a very short walk of the village pub, shop and cafe, Drake House is located in an unrivalled position for enjoying a fabulous seaside break. A popular location for a relaxing break, whatever the season, The South West Coast Path - for stunning coastal walks including to South Milton Sands, Thurlestone, Soar Mill Cove and beyond - can be accessed quickly and easily from the house. Bantham, popular with surfers, is just a short drive away, whilst picturesque Salcombe, with its shops, art galleries, restaurants and pretty waterfront, can be reached by car in 10-15 minutes.
VIEWS Stunning sea views from most rooms, but particularly the sitting/dining area and bedrooms at first and second floor level, plus far reaching country views.
ENTRANCE From the driveway a short walk leads to the entrance door and access into a lobby with space for coats, boots and shoes. This in turn leads into the main hallway (with desk and chair) which extends through to all other rooms on the ground floor including a very spacious UTILITY ROOM with fitted cupboards, sink, shelving, washing machine, tumble dryer and door out to the side terrace. A large CHANGING/SHOWER ROOM off the utility area has two separate shower cubicles, ideal for rinsing off sandy children returning from a day on the beach!
KITCHEN On the ground floor is an elegantly designed and presented kitchen with hand crafted duck egg coloured units, granite worktops, Rangemaster electric cooker (with five ring hob and two ovens), large fridge/freezer, integrated dishwasher and microwave. There is also a central island that extends to create a breakfast bar with two wooden stools. A step leads down to the living accommodation.
DINING AREA A large hand made dining table in oak and steel, seating ten comfortably, is positioned in front of the large sliding glass doors to make the most of the lovely views. The dining area opens out to the sunny South-facing terrace, perfect for al fresco dining.
SITTING ROOM This light and bright two-tiered space has been cleverly presented to accommodate the needs of holiday guests. The lower tier has quick and easy access to the terrace (via sliding glass doors once again) and enjoys superb sea views - it is beautifully furnished with a double sofa, three armchairs, occasional tables, and lovely table lamps, and also has a feature Chesneys wood-burning stove (not currently in use). A step leads up to the second tier with double sofa, two armchairs, large glass topped coffee table, table lamps, television, and ornamental fireplace.
SNUG Also at ground floor level is a cosy snug with sofa, two chairs and footstool, widescreen television, DVD player, table and lamp.
BEDROOMS Five in total, of which four are on the first floor. The magnificent and very spacious en suite master bedroom has lovely oak flooring, a super-King size bed (6'), bedside tables, fitted wardrobes, feature fireplace, wall-mounted television, and French windows to take in the stunning sea views. These doors open out to reveal a glazed Juliet balcony. The elegant fully tiled en suite bathroom has a bath, separate shower cubicle with rain head and hand-held shower attachment, double vanity unit, w.c., heated towel rail, shaver point and light. A second en suite double room has a King-size bed, bedside tables, fitted wardrobes, feature fireplace and similarly lovely sea views. The third and fourth bedrooms are both twins, each with two single beds, bedside tables and wardrobe - the seaward facing room has panoramic views. On the top floor there is a further double bedroom with super-King size bed (that can be split to create two singles on request), bedside units, wardrobe and en suite with bath, shower, w.c, wash-hand basin and heated towel rail. All duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels excluding beach towels are supplied.
BATH/SHOWER ROOMS In addition to the three en suite bathrooms and changing/shower room (above) there is a further fully tiled family bathroom on the first floor with bath, separate shower cubicle with rain head and hand-held shower attachment, double vanity unit, w.c., heated towel rail, shaver point and light. There is also a CLOAKROOM on the ground floor with w.c. and wash-hand basin.
OUTSIDE There is a large and sunny area of paved terrace to the front and side of the house, with a good sized area of tiered/banked garden with flower beds and shrubs. Large circular garden table and chairs for al fresco dining on the south facing terrace, plus sun loungers and barbeque available.
PARKING The steep driveway levels out to provide off road parking for 3-4 cars.
OTHER INFORMATION Beautiful quarry tiles on the ground floor with carpet on stairs, landing and most bedrooms. The master bedroom has lovely oak flooring. The house is fully double-glazed and enjoys the benefits of central heating and hot water. Wireless broadband internet available. Strictly no smoking or pets permitted.
