Dunlins Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
This unique location is the wing of a majestic stone built detached property and was formerly part of a grand Edwardian house. With its own private entrance and accommodation set over first and second floors, the property boasts spacious, light and airy living space. The house not only provides well-equipped tasteful accommodation and period furnishings but also breathtaking views from every room, across the river estuary and down to the nearby north Lancashire coast. The property is well-situated for exploring all this region has to offer and local amenities in nearby Grange-over-Sands are plentiful. Excellent walking is also available in the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales.

Area
The Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is a charming town set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay. This wonderful seaside settlement offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. What was once an old fishing village was transformed by the Furness Railway to become a fashionable Edwardian resort. Much of the town's current architecture, such as the traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses and brass band concerts are due to this expansion of the village. The excellent beach also offers good bird watching opportunities whilst a short drive away is Lake Windermere and the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead. Set amidst the southern lakes, Grange-over-Sands makes a wonderful holiday destination for the whole family and a superb base from which to enjoy the rest of this beautiful area.

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Dunlins is a haven of tranquillity, so relaxing. Perfect location for seeing all the delights of the lake district. The view across the bay is amazing, always changing.

Excellent accommodation which was very relaxing, comfortable and with great sea views. The owners were helpful and went out of their way to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Would definitely stay again and we would have no problem in recommending Dunlins to our friends.

We have now stayed here six years in a row so that speaks for itself! We enjoy the views and the relaxed nature of the area. A delightful combination and evocation of holidays as they used to be!

The location of the property was ideal for our particular needs. The outlook from the front windows were absolutely stunning and watching the wildlife on the bay and marshes was a real highlight. The premise itself is a real hideaway and allows for a chilled but refreshing stay. Proximity to Grange-over-Sands and the rest of the Lake District was a real plus.

Dunlins was a wonderful place to stay. The accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable. We all loved the views and it was also very peaceful, with only occasional traffic noise. It was very easy to find with excellent directions. Over our week I often saw one or two members of my family gazing out of the lounge window at the view! Would definitely come again!

The accommodation was a real bonus with outstanding views over the bay. The size of the building was more than adequate for two adult couples. Beautiful walks into the town of Grange over Sands where we found really nice shopping and leisure facilities. What made our holiday was a week of wall to wall sunshine which allowed us to enjoy the many walks of the area.

We are keen bird watchers, so the view from the living room window was just what the doctor ordered!

We did like the marvellous sight through the windows of the sitting room, and the celestial silence all over and round the house. We did highly appreciate the fact, that the city of Grange-over-Sands was very easy to reach by car, and that we found there an excellent butcher and a superb bakery. All in all we had a wonderful holiday.

The position of the house was just what I had hoped for, overlooking the bay. The furnishings allowed you to relax in comfort at the end of the day. The leaflets and maps were most helpful.

The photos on your site did not do the apartment justice at all - however nice you think it is - it is better! The views from the living room and front bedroom windows were a treat in themselves. It was one of the most welcoming places we have ever stayed in and I wish we could have stayed longer!

Really large spacious rooms throughout. Fantastic view to wake up to over Morecombe Bay. Seventies style kitchen took me back to my own childhood!

This was our second visit to the property, which speaks for itself. The newly fitted kitchen is splendid. The mile and a half walk along the path into Grange is always very enjoyable and Grange itself is a delight.

The appartment was comfortable, spacious and with excellent views over Morecambe Bay. A good base for exploring the area, which we had not visited before. We would certainly go back again. Booking was easy and follow-up good.

Stayed here with my adult son for a week. Spacious well equipped property. Good fridge freezer, radio in kitchen, comfortable beds. Best rooms had the amazing view. Kents Bank station just down the road and footpath just to right across road which leads onto promenade and eventually to town. The trains are particularly handy if like us you do not drive. They seem to run about every hour also the circular bus. Best to arm yourself with timetables and there are some in property and at Grange. I had a great week ,Holker hall garden festival, Ulverston music festival at Coronation Hall Theatre two nights jazz and opera, Levens Hall with topiary gardens, Cartmel village with Priory, brewery and carriage rides plus great food shops and restaurants, Steam Engine ride near Newby together with visit to aquarium and boat trip on lake windermere on one afternoon. I could go on and on... Taxis need to be booked well in advance as they are really busy. Some don't work at weekends and some not in the morning. I enjoyed the views the best. Would have liked ensuite bathroom.

A "tight" car-parking space and lots of stairs were more than compensated for by the gorgeous views from so many rooms of this 1st and 2nd floor apartment, which is both interesting and homely! An easy walk to "local corner shop", great art & craft co-operative, the promenade and convenient access to roads for sight-seeing opportunities resulted in a wonderful holiday in late april this year.

Our first visit to Grange over Sands and Dunlins and what an experience. The accommodation was so spacious and comfortable for our group of 4 adults and there was nothing we wanted for. The view from the lounge window was breath taking and the addition of binoculars for the viewing of wildlife on the estuary was wonderful. What a beautiful place to holiday . Will we be back - you bet!!.

Dunlins is in a nice quiet area of Grange over Sands. Good access to the southern area of the Lakes, Windermere and Coniston Waters. The view across Morecambe Bay from the living room was nothing short of tranquil. A charming, comfortable apartment in a great setting. We are certainly planning another visit to Dunlins in the near future.

We found Dunlins very comfortable and the view from lounge was stunning. On our first night we found a deer in the garden. Great walks and we loved Carmel, the home of sticky toffee puddings they were great too. Restaurants in Grange over Sands were good and we found that cooking wasn`t necessary as the carry out foods were good too. We would return again, maybe earlier in the year next time.

Very good service. We liked the home very much. The location was excellent. We all slept very well, because the beds were very comfortable. We were 4 persons and the rooms were spacious. Its a good place to go on day trips. Our favourite place was the rocking chair at the great window.

"Dunlins" is a beautiful apartment with views across the estuary from every window, It is well euipped, spotlessly clean and very convenient for shops and the lower Cumbrian Lakes. We liked it so much that we spent two separate weeks there and enjoyed them both. Our dog - cocker spaniel - also enjoyed her holiday!
