East Balchraggan Cottage Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
East Balchraggan Cottage is a wonderful detached cottage offering cosy character accommodation a mile from the village of Drumnadrochit. There are two double rooms and a twin room, and a family bathroom. Downstairs is a kitchen with dining area and woodburner, a sitting room with woodburner and an additional snug with woodburner and sofabed, as well as a shower room. East Balchraggan Cottage is perfectly placed for enjoying the attractions around Loch Ness, including Nessie exhibitions, the ruins of Urquhart Castle, The Great Glen Way, Culloden Moor and the city of Inverness.

At the head of Urquhart Bay on the shores of Loch Ness is the village of Drumnadrochit, the centre of the Loch Ness Monster tourism industry. The Loch Ness Monster exhibition is a popular destination for young and old alike. As well as the visitor's centre, the village provides other amenities for guests including a post office, tea-room, a gift shop and several cafés. Passing through the village is ‘The Great Glen Way', a 73-mile long path running from Fort William to Inverness and makes the area a magnet for walkers and hikers. Urquhart Castle is a Historic Scotland property and is a fascinating ruin to visit. The city of Inverness is 14 miles away and has a theatre, art galleries, museums and a choice of shops, restaurants and pubs. Just outside the city is the National Trust for Scotland site Culloden Battlefield on Culloden Moor.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Oil central heating with woodburning stoves in sitting room, kitchen and snug. The owner was very welcoming and happy to help. The cottage has beautiful views over Drumnadrochit and even with the low temperatures and snow the rooms felt warm and cosy. We hope to be able to stay here again in the future.

We had a fantastic week at East Balchraggan Cottage which we found to be a lovely cottage with a fantastic view. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. The amenities within the house are of the highest standard and the cutlery and kitchen utensils looked new. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the owners for allowing us to stay at East Balchraggon and for their superb hospitality.

Perfect! This property was the most amazing place to spend time with my family. The Cottage was quaint but well equipped and allowed me to entertain family. It was also really good that the owner was in the house next to us and was really good company. The view from the seat outside while having a coffee or wine was just breathtaking! This holiday was for 4 generations to come together and it worked so well for all. This property more than exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves the Scottish highlands. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

It was a cosy yet spacious property with wonderful scenery near and around Loch Lomond. The area we stayed has kept its unique character and there was an opportunity to see rare wildlife such as golden eagle and hen harrier. The whole family had the best holiday ever!

The view from the cottage is pretty spectacular and the location lends itself to peace and quiet. The owners in the neighbouring property were friendly and helpful. Drumnadrochit is an ideal base for exploring the Highlands and the coast around the Moray Firth and along to Findhorn and beyond. The cottage is an ideal holiday let in an ideal location.

July 2012
It was a lovely cottage, deceptively spacious inside with beautiful views and secluded enough to feel like a million miles away, despite being only a few miles drive from the town.

For the excellent view from the bench in front of the house I would recommend the house immediately to friends.

The owners next door were warm, welcoming and brilliant. The horses, the dogs, the various ducks, sheep and fowl etc kept the children busy and the safe fencing kept us happy. The view was absolutely breathtaking and the bench outside the home should be a focal point of your sales pitch. It was so gorgeous that we did not want to leave the property to look around as everyone was kept busy and overall it was fantastic. Will definitely visit again if only for the view and bench!

We loved the cottage. The view was lovely overlooking Loch Ness and the owners who lived next door were so nice - they came and met us so we didn't get lost. Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday.
February 2015
The cottage was cozy, but large enough for our group of eight. The view was incredible!!!!!!!!! Our family was thrilled to stay there. I would highly recommend driving a four wheel drive as the long steep lane to the cottage is treacherous.
