A charming cottage, oozing character. In a good location to reach beautiful Suffolk villages and coast.

We were so disappointed, arrived at just after 5pm no pub, shop was shut, couldn't park, cottage was not as advertised, we were a party of 3, only 2 dining room chairs, and to be honest it felt grubby in need of TLC, cupboards in the kitchen full of food, where are you supposed to put your own ! MY son is 18 and within 30 minutes of arrival had to get an inhaler the cottage was damp and so dusty, we stayed for only 2 nights, all very sad as we were looking forward to this weekend away. Not sure how it can be advertised as dog friendly there is no outside enclosed space, with cars and lorries often blocking the roads, we spent most of our time away from the cottage.

Loved the rustic 400 year old thatched cottage, it had real character. It was situated peacefully in surrounding countryside and pretty village. Couldn't believe how many beautiful villages are nearby!

Had a great week here in this beautiful old cottage which was lovely and warm even without log burner on. Local people in pub The Duke, just doors down, were very friendly.

Plus side ? Coddenham is a lovely village to visit. Negatives... Please avoid this cottage if you want a peaceful country retreat. It is nothing like what you would expect from the pics and 'blurb'... The noise is horrendous. From the HGVs that thunder inches past your windows day and night , to the local mod base with helicopters on military exercises , usually around 0100 ...maybe 2300 if you're lucky . There is no such thing as 'on street parking ' ... We had to park almost out of the village and walk back with luggage/5 year old in tow, taking your life in your hands as no pavement and constant traffic. You can't even park outside to unload without risking a) glares/comments from locals b) risking damage to yourself or vech!! (Just google Coddenham /traffic complaints...wish we had ...) There is no local pub as detailed in the description ... It has been closed down at least 2 years ... Rear patio area with furniture? That's slightly exaggerated ?! If you want to squeeze your 3 guests on to 2 chairs on a 2ft wide plank of wood...bizarre. Now to the cottage itself ... I'm not sure what hits you first - the smell of damp dog or the air fresheners put EVERYWHERE to disguise it. It's disgusting. The whole place is filthy , and every where covered in dog hairs. As previous comments said , the whole place could do with a really good scrub. We found dirty crockery in cupboards, rubbish left in wardrobes, and when we first arrived we thought we could be in wrong place as the porch was full of old boots, jackets and rubbish left behind... No room for our own stuff. We didn't stay long- left after 3 nights and booked into travel lodge as couldn't bear another sleepless night and our daughter wouldn't sleep in her dismal room. But any time we did spend there we just stayed in the bedroom , as the sofa /cushions/rug were all sticky and covered in dog hair- just awful. We stay in self catering cottages many times every year, and this was the worst place we've ever seen. Have just secured a partial refund to cover our travel lodge stay , and admission that the description was perhaps 'not entirely' accurate ... If there's only one or two of you, arriving without a car to park , and you are taking dogs, and you don't care about not sleeping a wink, or using clean cutlery, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time in this cottage in beautiful Suffolk.

we booked this cottage as it was an old thatched cottage and we had always wanted to stay in a quaint little country cottage' we were not disappointed either ! it was a rustic and charming little cottage with low exposed beams and small low doors. situated in the very pretty village of coddenham, just 8 miles north of Ipswich. even though the main road was busy through the high street ,in the evenings it was very peaceful. at night you could look up and see the sky full of stars as no light pollution here! I didn't realise how beautiful Suffolk was ! there are so many pretty villages nearby and we were not far from all the places of interest. there are also plenty of public footpaths allover and around the area.

If you want charming, this cottage is definitely charming, BUT very noisy!!! It is only about 10-12 inches from the ONLY road that runs in & out of this village. Great for 2 people, not really big enough for the 3 it states unless you have a small child that can fit the 3/4 bed in the single room.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend and absolutely loved it. The cottage was very clean and provided us with everything we needed, including detailed information regarding walks around the village, places to visit and things to do in the surrounding villages and towns. The cottage was very rustic and had lots of character. The bed was extremely comfortable with good cupboard space and the bathroom was modern but with that cottage feel. Our favourite part of this beautiful cottage was the wood burning fire and wooden beams throughout. We spent most nights sitting by the fire, drinking wine whilst watching a variety of DVDs that are available to watch. I highly recommend staying here, we would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Foresters is a delightful cottage, very comfortable and well appointed. It was well situated for exploring Suffolk, in a very pretty village, with some lovely walks for the dogs. The only problem we experienced was with parking, and some traffic noise at night because the cottage is right on the road- make sure you look both ways when you get to the bottom step! However, we enjoyed our stay very much, and I would be happy to recommend this cottage.

Initially a good impression but crockery etc inadequate for 2 let alone the 3 that it was supposed to cater for. Had to move a lot of the owner's foodstuffs to make room in the cupboard for ours. Good wardrobe, but small items, (underwear etc) had to be kept on a rather high shelf in the wardrobe although there was room in the bedroom for a chest of drawers. The huge bed was blissfully comfortable. Only a minute frying pan provided, blind in bathroom broken, bathroom window rotten. Sorry to say this but the house could have done with a thorough clean and crockery etc upgrading. The village was lovely and there was a lot of information about walks and pubs left for renters' use
