Glenacres description

Glenacres is a large 5 star GOLD AWARD luxury beach house situated on the beautiful World Heritage coastline in Seatown, Dorset.
It's location is amazing, only 100 yards from the beach, but set back from the cliffs enjoying superb sea and country views. The coastal area where Glenacres sits was the second wholly-natural World Heritage Site to be designated in the United Kingdom, and enjoys its status as an area of outstanding beauty.

Accommodation/Facilities:

The house itself is a large substantial detached property which offers a very high standard of comfortable well maintained and spacious accommodation. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed with luxurious beds and linens. It has a newly installed bespoke oak kitchen housing a wide range of high quality equipment available for all your cooking requirements. It also comes with an excellent range of accessories offered including flat screen televisions, DVD players, DVDs, wifi, Wii, Sky (full subscription), video games, books, table football, trampoline, table tennis and a small outside heated swimming pool.
It has extensive gardens and woodland (approx. 3 acres) which comes as a pleasant surprise when entering the property, consisting of well laid out formal gardens to the west with large expanses of lawn interspersed with a variety of shrubs and trees. There is also a rose garden, vegetable garden and orchard. On the south western side is a wooden bridge leading to a large area of bluebell woodland.

The western boundary backs onto fields with fine views to Golden Cap, the sea and surrounding hills.
Immediately to the south of the house is a walled garden with adjoining terrace, areas of lawn, flower and shrub beds which also features a small swimming pool heated on request with terrace (open from May to October).

There is ample parking for numerous cars on the forecourt of the property. The property and gardens are maintained by our professional gardeners and Pearl, our livein caretaker residing in the annex adjacent to the property. Pearl will greet you on arrival and show you the layout of the property. She is there to assist you in anyway, although discreet. The ongoing maintenance of the gardens are a priority and therefore surplus gardeners are sometimes in attendance.

Sleeps 10 adults, 2 children + cot (or a variation of 12)

The house is split up into 4 sections, the main house, the drawing room, the barn and the utility/conservatory room, all directly connected with one another.

The main house consists of hall, wc, kitchen/breakfast room and sitting/dining room with 4 bedrooms above, 1 with ensuite and 1 family bathroom.

There is a utility room housing 1x10kg washing machine and 2 tumble driers opening up into a conservatory.

The large drawing room connects the main house to the barn with a shower room and wc in between. The Barn consists of a games room with large bedroom above housing 3 double beds (dormitory style), ideally for older children or a family.
Bedroom 1: King sized bed and ensuite shower room
Bedroom 2: King sized bed (can be divided into 2 singles)
Bedroom 3: Double bed
Bedroom 4: 2 Single beds (1 family bathroom with overhead shower, wc and washbasin)
Bedroom 5: 3 Double beds (1 family showeroom, wc and washbasin)

local Area:

The beach is a great place for fishermen with the occasional whale and on summer evenings the chance of dolphins can be seen passing through when feeding on the plentiful mackerel shoals. You can fossil hunt along the beach and along the cliff line with the best fossils found along the beach towards Golden Cap. Golden Cap is the highest point on the south coast, looming over Seatown. It is worth a walk to its summit with the walk beginning at Glenacres, the South West Coastal Path. Also situated among the rolling hills on this World Heritage site and nestling under the 'Golden Cap' is the 'Anchor Inn', almost literally on the beach, the pub sits in the centre of our little cove. It was originally a smugglers haunt and the cottages above were originally the Coastguard Station.

Turn South at the Church in Chideock and within approximately three quarters of a mile is the "sea town of Chideock": Seatown. This pretty hamlet consists of a pub "The Anchor Inn" a few houses and thatched cottages, Glenacres being one, the Golden cap caravan park and some of the most glorious scenery you will find anywhere. It is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty, with the National Trust Golden Cap Estate adjacent to the hamlet. The estate's secret valleys and rolling hills are served by more than 20 miles of footpaths and bridle ways, all rich in wildlife. The cliffs are famous for their fossils and the many superb walking opportunities with one beginning at Glenacres, the South West coastal path.
The little hamlet is served by the local camping ground shop (10 yards from the back gate) which is open during the summer season where you will find a post box and are able to purchase daily provision, newspapers etc., and fill your bbq gas bottle. There are a range of local amenities in Chideock including a post office/store, village hall, inns and hotels.
