Grantown on Spey is situated in the centre of the Scottish Highlands and is only 12 miles from Aviemore. It is a traditional Highland town on the River Spey, located on the northern edge of the outstanding Cairngorms National Park, which is recognised as a Special Area of Conservation. The town itself is surrounded by Anagach Woods - ancient Scots Pine woodlands, which offer a unique habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. The woods date back to 1766, have way marked trails and there is walking for all abilities. There are also numerous other walks and trails around the town, offering spectacular views over the surrounding hills and mountains. The town's Square and High Street are lined with unique and interesting shops and businesses, selling everything from children's clothes to whisky and fishing lines to pottery. There are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants, offering a wide range of meals, drinks and snacks to suit all tastes.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Lovely location with views of the Cairngorm mountains. Very good base for visiting the surrounding area. Owner was very keen to encourage wildlife into garden and we saw many birds and animals. Rooms were spacious and plenty of storage space, overall very warm and comfortable. Owner very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We would like to return to this property.

The cottage was well situated to places such as the Highland wildlife park and RSPB locations. The cottage itself was spacious and the owner was friendly but not intrusive at all, which was a good balance.

It was perfect! The cottage was warm and friendly and suitably cosy with the winter weather. The location was ideal as we required very little digging out. The garden is great for sledging!

We had a great stay at Glengynack. The owners were very helpful. They gave a lot of tips of where to go. It's a great place to discover the heart of Scotland. In the east Distilleries, Castles, Ben's and Glens in the north Inverness to do some shopping, to the west all those marvellous loch's and in the south the Grampian Mountains. In Scotland there is nothing you couldn't like!

November 2010
We had a little trouble finding the cottage and had to be talked in by the very freindly land lady who lived on site, but for peace, location and wild life it was excellent.
September 2011
we had a wonderful week in Glengynack cottage, - so many touristic sights in short distance, the mountains directly in front of the door. As the weather was fine all the week, we enjoyed this week very much!
December 2009
The main problem were our difficulties to find an arrangement with the owner about the working hours of the heating (and hot water). The sleeping room of our children was moist and humid, as we could not get it really warm during the few hours of heating in work.
