The cottage was fantastic, great location and had everything you could possibly need. Dunvegan is a great little village, The Old School restaurant is amazing and the bakery across the road. I would go back to the cottage tomorrow if I could.

The house was lovely with everything we required for a great stay. It was spotlessly clean with really good bathrooms and comfortable beds/good quality linen. The lounge was lovely but we didn't use it much as the kitchen was so good. We spent most of our time in there round the big kitchen table. Views from the property are spectacular and we loved watching the wee lambs. We can't wait to go back next year!

Perfectly located to tour all areas of Skye. Loads of beautiful scenery. The log fire was very welcome when it was cold and rainy.

House very comfortable and pet welcome. Everything included but a tumble drier. It would have been useful given the Scottish weather! Nice wee village. Go to the old bakery for cakes!

When we booked the property for a one-week stay, it was fairly new on the listings so we had no reviews to compare it to. Thankfully by the time we went on our holiday the reviews had started and, on the whole, we agree with them. Our group was a good mix of very young, in the middle and growing old gracefully so quite a difficult group to please but despite this we were happy! The cottage is very easy to find with the directions given, set away from the road so there's not very much to hear and in any case the amount of traffic is fairly light. While there are other properties in the area, they are far enough away to still feel quite isolated. The garden is small but enough to dry washing and have a good play - although you are only a few minutes away from the proper outdoors! Facilities are good and there's most utensils in the kitchen you'll need for cooking. Large fridge/freezer so you can do a big shop without fear of space! A nice lounge with enough seating, a nice selection of DVDs for all the family and books. Bedrooms have a good enough space and storage - the advice on the first floor being sloped is very much useful to note! Areas to consider If you are planning on coming here, there are a few things that you should consider before using your hard earned money: 1. Toddlers/young children - this property is well suited for toddlers/young children with an enclosed garden, Freesat (CBeebies), a cupboard full of puzzles and games and very little in the way of things to damage. However - the bedroom with single beds is upstairs and the stairs/doorways are quite narrow. If you plan to use your standard popup safety gate - it will not fit. We did not request one from the owner at the time but would be important to check whether there is one if you have a ninja wee one like ours who can escape quietly! Also note that the single bedded room does directly face the stairs so your exploring monster does not need to sneak past any rooms to venture downstairs. 2. Nuclear oven - a point of interest. The oven is fantastic at cooking food, just more efficient than the indicated temperature so watch your food closely. Good example of this - bread that normally takes 20 minutes to cook was perfect in 8 minutes. 3. Tumble dryer - the first reviewer had this spot on. While it is not an essential, the changeable weather does impact on planning clothes washing/drying. There are radiators and a clothes horse but just useful to note. Useful hints/tips 1. The Old Bakery - you will read in the comments book that most people are very happy with the Old Bakery (a 5-10 minute walk) - every one of them is right. Fantastic value (for example 40p for a huge fruit scone) and always busy with locals and tourists. Ignore their advice at your peril! 2. Shopping - we have been to Skye before and have found the Co-op stores in Broadford and Portree can be variable with its available items. We fixed this problem by using ASDA Home Delivery. The issue is that they only deliver to the south of the island so ASDA have come up with a solution - agree to meet them in a car park and they will hand over the goods. So - if you plan your journey right (like we nearly did), you can get everything you need and substitues for anything ASDA cannot obtain. We used Broadford (ex-)Tourist Information Centre Car Park (VisitScotland, IV49 9AB) and wrote in the delivery notes "Car Park Collection" - it's about 50 minutes from there to the cottage so no need to worry about your freezer items defrosting! Deliveries as of Sept 2013 were Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. 3. WiFi - it's free and very useful! There's no 3G and variable 2G (do not rely on it if you need to be in communication with the outside world). One workaround for this is to use Skype. It maybe an idea to have it logged in (possibly with an external phone number add-on) if you absolutely have to be contacted (but part of the mystery of the cottage is the remoteness of leaving all that behind!) Overall - a very nice cottage that did everything we needed it to - got us as far away from the mainland as possible and have a nice family week away!

The views and the peace were priceless. Lots of space between the cottage, and the road, as well as between neighbours. We had a really lovely stay, and the homely touches such as board games, guide books for local walks and Scottish music CDs just topped the whole experience. Gourmet food down the road in the Old School Restaurant was a treat. It was a fantastic family holiday in Scotland and I would go back tomorrow.

We had the most amazing holiday staying at Greenbrae, the cottage is everything you could ask for, well equipped, cosy and a real home from home. The location is great for travelling around the island and Dunvegan is within walking distance for groceries etc. I would definitely recommend Greenbrae and hope to return myself in the near future.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Greenbrae. The location of the cottage is fantastic and within comfortable distance to visit areas on the north of the island. Dunvegan itself has two well stocked shops and a few bakeries so it's very easy to top up on supplies without going to Portree (30 min drive). We found Dunvegan to be beautiful as ever and enjoyed visiting the castle and grounds and enjoying the scenery and wildlife on offer with the many nearby walks. The cottage itself is clean and very well equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher etc and the owner had left some kitchen essentials (washing up liquid, sugar, etc.) which was very helpful. With bedding and towels provided we found our rooms to be very comfortable. The living room has both television and DVD player so perfect for rainy nights spent by the fire! We found that having two bathrooms was ample for our needs, the main bathroom being very spacious and with modern decor. The large kitchen meant we could all eat meals around the table, which was nice for an extended family group. Internet access is also provided way which was extremely useful. In all we had a brilliant stay and would happily recommend and return!
