Greshornish Boathouse description

Holiday home
Greshornish Boathouse is a cosy first floor apartment above a boathouse on the shores of Loch Greshornish on Skye. There is one double bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen and a sitting room with dining area with a single sofa bed and views over the loch. Outside is one parking space. Greshornish Boathouse is a wonderful base for enjoying walking, exploring the spectacular coastline and drinking in the peace and quiet of this mystical island.

Area
Set on the north-west of the famous Isle of Skye, the village of Dunvegan is a quirky mixture of traditional stone dwellings and modern houses. With a wide selection of shops and hotels, Dunvegan is only a mile from the thirteenth century castle home of the Clan Macleod – who are said to have had dealings with the "wee folk" at the Fairy Bridge. Also in the area - with fantastic rock forms and pinnacles - are the Cuillin Mountains, which many climbers consider some of the best in the country. The Aros Centre provides a wide variety of concerts, theatre and cinema throughout the year and is well worth a visit, whilst Portree, the island's only town boasts and excellent range of shops, restaurants and hotels, as well as a picturesque natural harbour.

Region
From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

The view from the front window at Greshornish Boathouse was just fantastic. It was so calming and soothing gazing across the Loch and witnessing the vast wildlife come and go as they please. The Boathouse was a wonderful place to stay for our first visit to Skye. Very reasonably priced and plenty of walks within a half hour drive. Lovely to take our golden retriever with us to this beautiful place. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone.

Hours were spent looking out at the wonderful sea views from the main window - with the cosy crackling of the wood burner in the background. Grateful for the abundance of information about local walks and recommendations for things to do in the local area. Very comfortable bed too!

The location was perfect, the window looking out over the loch was stunning and kept our dog enraptured. It was peaceful and private yet not completely remote. Loved being at the end of the road, a good place to get away from the hassle of modern living with no phones or internet.

The Cottage was cosy and comfortable and well situated with some lovely walks right on the doorstep for the dog and a great base for touring the North West of Skye. I would definitely recommend for a quiet and relaxing holiday

We loved Greshornish Boathouse - it was exactly the kind of place we love to stay in; cosy and a little bit different. The views from the living room were amazing and it was wonderfully quiet and relaxing. We would love to go back for a longer stay some time. It was great to be able to bring our dogs too.

The boathouse was in a beautiful, peaceful setting with fabulous views. The owner supplied directions to the boathouse and suggestions of things to do which were very useful and thoughtful. I would stay there again.

Wonderful secluded location. Ideal for getting away from not all. The Greshornish Boathouse was a gem and an ideal cosy base camp after long days exploring the locality.

Fantastic location and view from the Boathouse window. We loved the quirkiness of the Boathouse which was great for two people. We appreciated them letting us bring our dog. It is lovely and cosy, liked it having two couches. Enjoyed it NOT having a signal for the mobile phones, great to escape.

The uniqueness of the accommodation was fantastic and the little beach next the property was perfect for the dogs. For a cottage that accepts dogs the cleanliness was excellent.

The location was stunning, and so very peaceful. The cottage was really comfortable and away from it all. The view from the sitting room window was a slice of heaven.

This property is superbly located for anyone wanting a complete escape to the country experience. It is isolated and peaceful, yet accessible. As townies it is not every day that you can see golden eagles in flight and watch seals in their natural habitat just a few minutes away from lovely accommodation.

Idyllic location and well-equipped, pretty cottage which was a good base from which to visit all other areas of the island. There was a good selection of books and DVDs. The multi-fuel stove made it very snug and the supply of fuel was generous.

We loved the peace and quiet provided by the location. The stunning views from simply looking out of the window. The multi-fuel heater thing being able to warm the whole house.

Lovely quiet secluded spot with the loch at high tide lapping about 20 feet away. Wonderful view of the area, wildlife on the doorstep, salmon jumping in the loch, golden eagles whirring around, oyster catchers, curlews and red deer... fantastic.
