Every year my mother, my cousin and I go away for a week together, as we're all keen photographers. This year it was Mum's turn to choose our destination and she decided that she wanted to see the Isle of Whithorn and picked Harbour House as our base for the week.
The house is newly-decorated and furnished. We walked in to what could have been a show home, everything was spotlessly clean and the owners had kindly left a welcome pack of goodies on the kitchen table, complete with an enormous home-made chocolate fudge cake (which we managed to make last for three days!).
The beds were incredibly comfortable - there's a double and a twin upstairs and a twin downstairs, though whoever's in the downstairs bedroom gets ceiling noise from the person in the upstairs twin.
The house is well equipped, with free WiFi, a large television with DVD player in the living room and a smaller TV and DVD in the kitchen, where there's also a digital radio with iPod dock. There's a selection of books and games as well and each bedroom and the living room is stocked with a generous pile of Scottish and countryside magazines.
Sensibly the owners have opted for a digi-lock on the front door rather than a key, so no timetabling needed if you all want to go your different ways for the day, as long as you can remember the code! We never had a problem getting a parking space right outside and although we were mildly concerned about being so close to the pub, there was no noise from it whatsoever (and the food there is amazing).
All in all, a great place to stay, thoroughly recommended!
