Hartland Lodge 59 Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
An exciting holiday spot for a large family or a group of friends, Hartland Lodge has been laid out over one floor and the living areas have been designed in an open plan style. The lodge can sleep eight people and has one double bedroom with en-suite, two twin rooms and a family shower room. The rest of the lodge is made up of an open plan living area comprising a kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a sofabed. Outside there is a decked area with furniture and off road parking for up to two cars. An ideal base for those looking to explore this delightful area.

Area
Woolsery is an attractive village, set within the unspoiled rolling North Devon countryside. The village is bordered by wonderful coastlines and country walks, and its history can be traced back to before the Domesday Book. The heart of the village was built around its Norman Church and there are many small festivals and fairs throughout the year, including the 'Woolsery Show', which has been established since the 1800's. Woolsery is also famous for its cheese. A trip to the local dairy will show you cheeses handmade using traditional methods using fresh goat's and cow's milk to produce a range of cheeses, from soft through to hard. Woolsery village is within easy reach of the sandy beaches of Westward Ho and the fishing village of Instow and Appledore. Nearby, you can also visit Clovelly with its steep cobbled streets and Hartland & Stoke with their Abbey and church, whilst surf-enthusiasts will appreciate the well-known surfing centre of Bude.

Region
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

The lodge is in a peaceful location and looks out over pleasant scenery. It is situated a fairly short distance from the sea (Hartland Quay was splendid in stormy weather).

The lodge was set in lovely grounds, with lots of space and quiet. We had lots of space in the lodge and enjoyed the home comforts too! It was a novelty to be living in a lodge! It was a beautiful area to stay in with many walks in the area and stunning scenery.

The lodge was excellent, spacious clean and well stocked. The grounds around the lodge were brilliant as we have two small children and they had freedom to play outside as much as they liked. My daughter especially liked the ducks. The views were also very impressive. We would definitely go back!

The lodge was in a lovely setting an ideal base for touring Devon and Cornwall. The ducks are always ready to be fed, and the views are fantastic.

The location was central to all local attractions and, as the weather was bad, we found entertaining the family very easy on wet days.

The property was comfortable and in a quiet, well-located spot which provided a good base from which to explore the area. Although part of a leisure park, lodges were spaced apart with plenty of green space which created more private, relaxing environment.

The lodge was compact but had good accommodation and facilities. It was a peaceful spot with a good outlook. Good information left for us. Many thanks.

Clean, everything we needed in the chalet for our stay, you need a car to get around as no shop on site. Watching the geese land and fly off at the beginning and end of each day kept the old and young entertained. You could even set your watch by them.

It was really useful to have the local activities/attractions pack to have a look through - particularly with the weather we experienced!

Hartland Lodge 59 booked via Sykes Cottages The outside of the lodge is in need of attention. It needs repainting as the woodstain is peeling off and there is numerous cobwebs all over the outside of the lodge. On arrival at the lodge the first thing i needed to do was to clean the windows inside and out. Also the decking area was partly covered in moss with grass growing through the decking boards in places. All the patio furniture had been neglected and needed cleaning before we could use it. Not a "luxury lodge" as advertised. The lodge is not situated in Hartland Forest Golf and Leisure Parc. This closed down over 2 years ago. The site is just a grassland site. The pub in Woolsery has also closed. The shop however is still open. The directions given by Sykes Cottages are also incorrect as there is no longer a signpost on the A39 for the Hartland Forest Golf Club. This makes it difficult to find the site.

WE really enjoyed our stay. Thought the chalets so well planned and designed. Wanted to take it home and find a plot of land and live in it! We liked the quietness of the site, and the setting with all the ducks, the children thought them great. Shame about the crappy english wet weather!!! but would definitely go back and recommend it to others as well.

My family included a 5 year old, a teenager, 3 - 20 year olds, a 50 and an 84. Everyone found the accommodation suited their needs. The environment was excellent for all members. The 5 year old had a wonderful time playing with other children in other lodges.

There is probably only one negative thing I can say about the lodge and that was check in, we asked if we could check in early and was told to ring when we were on our way but we couldnt get hold of anybody so we just turned up and waited outside until the cleaners had finished and just went in, felt a bit strange. Also they advertise a children's play area but that has been closed since October last year! That being said the lodge itself was very clean, spacious with all the amenities you could need! Lots of leaflets on the local area with day trips out in them were very useful. The views were also fantastic. Lodge 59 probably needs the decking fencing in a bit, my kids are young and they were wandering everywhere, but to be honest it was a quiet area so it didn't do any harm to let them! The surrounding area has plenty to do for all ages, we went out every day and still didn't do anywhere near everything! Would love to return for another holiday, the kids had the best time ever (in their words!).

Stayed for 5 days in this great quiet location. Fishing (need a licence) and golf available on site and plenty of lovely open countryside for walking the hound. The log cabin was very well equiped and clean, every form of kitchen ware, glass ware and utensils you would ever need and even a dishwasher. Also hair dryer, DVD, CD system, video player, games for the children and much more. Three bedrooms and one sofa bed (one double with en-suite and two twin) so two showers, two toilets and one bath. Lovely large windows to take in the views. We stayed at the end of October but it would be great to stay in the summer and make use of the veranda. The location is a little remote and there is not actually anything on site for children but don't think this is necessarily a negative as there is plenty of open space for playing safely and making your own outdoor amusement on this definetely dog friendly site. You just need to be prepared to drive 3-4 miles of lanes to get to the main road. The location is about 10 miles from Bude in one direction and 10 miles from Bideford in the other direction. There are a couple of little villages that are a little closer with a couple of pubs and a few shops. If you are after a quiet relaxing break, you won't get better than this.
