My wife especially liked the log burner and the location and my sister loved Bob the dog. Also plenty of information available for the local area. The cottage was very comfy and cosy with all needed for a self-catering holiday. Many thanks.

The cottage is extremely comfortable and has everything you could need. In terms of location it is ideal for exploring the Lakes and the fact it was on a farm made it all the more interesting for the kids.

I took a French family to High arnside, a bit apprehensive as I wanted to give them the best possible impression of Cumbria! . I couldn't have made a better choice. They were bowled over by the superb situation. They loved the cottage, well- equipped and comfortable. The father collected wood for the stove every day, on his morning walk... even though wood was available in the store. Arriving late at night, the drive was a bit daunting for the first time, but very quickly got accustomed to it and enjoyed seeing all the sheep and lambs on the way down to the main road.A good central situation for visiting all the sights such as Hilltop, Muncaster Castle, the Buddhist temple near Ulverston etc. The French family are farmers and so very much enjoyed talking to the farmer who runs the farm, managing to communicate in spite of the language difficulties. Being a native of Cumbria, I wasn't expecting good weather at that time of year, but we only had one rainy day, and there was plenty to do even then.

We have stayed at High Arnside three times now and it is the most wonderful place to relax and clear the mind of life's stress. Situated nearly in the clouds on a working sheep farm there is always sheep and dogs around which our kids loved. The freedom to roam on the fells is wonderful and just what young children need. Miles from a road! Lovely clear little streams from the fell. The owners live next door and just let you get on with your holiday but are lovely and friendly when you need them. The accomodation is high quality with everything you need.

Great location! Would love to go back in summer to just see how great the views were as it was January and the weather was not great but that did not stop us from getting out.

High Arnside, as the name suggests, is perched some way above the valley floor and enjoys the most enchanting views in every direction. The cottage has been thoughtfully equipped for holiday rentals and is very comfortable. The patio area is delightful, and one can sit for hours watching the play of light on nearby and distant hills. In fact I did just that. There are lovely walks straight from the cottage door, with the walk down into Hawkshead and back via Tarn Hows and Iron Keld being both beautiful and moderate. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming or helpful. This is without question one of the nicest holiday cottages we have stayed in anywhere. There are only two small points to bear in mind, and these are certainly not meant as criticisms but just useful to bear in mind for planning purposes: (1) the bedrooms are one double (principal bedroom) and two rooms with two single beds each (one room can only be reached by walking through the double bedroom); and (2) there is no Wi-Fi connection other than that of the farmhouse which can be camped on (password is provided) if one sits against the dividing wall. A dedicated internet connection would be helpful, although I accept that not everyone cares about this. Mobile signal varies by provider: Three gives a good 3G signal; Vodafone and O2 were more variable. A really refreshing holiday in a cottage that is very highly recommended.
