Surrounded by peaceful countryside and glorious wildlife, this typically Cornish, stone and slate barn was lovingly converted in 2009 to create a purpose-built holiday cottage with the emphasis on comfort, but at minimal cost to the environment. The cottage is approached via a private drive through the woods from a quiet country lane (no traffic noise!). Higher Clamland adjoins a second holiday cottage; both cottages have their own fenced gardens and separate parking for two cars. The cottage also has the use of 2½ acres of woodland - perfect for a morning stroll with (or without) the dogs.
Higher Clamland offers an ideal base for exploring Devon and Cornwall, being centrally located and only ½ an hour’s drive from either the rocky north coast or the sandy south coast. Boscastle, Tintagel, the small sandy cove of Trebarwith, and Crackington Haven are all within easy reach, as are Looe, Polperro and Seaton. Both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor are a short drive away, as well as a selection of magnificent National Trust properties (Cotehele being the nearest). The Eden Project is not far away, there is golf at nearby St Mellion, with smaller courses at Launceston, Holsworthy and Bude. Horse riding, fishing and, of course, walking and cycling, are all available locally. Launceston, the ancient capital of Cornwall is 10 minutes away, with its fine castle, steam railway, restaurants and shops. There is a wide selection of pubs offering excellent food within easy reach. Shop 3 miles, pub about 1 mile.
