Hill House Cottage more than lived up to our expectations. It was decorated to a very high standard whilst still remaining exceedingly comfortable. The sofas, beds and pillows were wonderful, perfect for relaxing. The rooms are really spacious and there was more than enough room for 4 adults and a dog. Had the additional benefit of a country walk on the doorstep which was suitable for our dog and totally accessible. There was even an outside hose for cleaning both our wellies and the dog for when we returned. There is a small enclosed decking area with table and chairs for warmer weather with a gravel path.
Mr Meehan

The cottage has a great deal of character and was convenient for traveling around the area. Although there is only one space advertised we managed to park both cars one behind the other. October 2011
We couldn't fault anything with the cottage, it was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed. This was our second visit to Hill House Cottage, we went two years ago and really loved it. There's loads to do within a short car journey. We went to Sherbourne, Lyme Regis, Longleat, Street and Stourhead Gardens. Our two children loved it. There's also a soft play centre 10 minutes up the road. The owners were lovely, making us a delicious banana cake and recommending a lovely pub, The Stapletons Arms, that were fine with us bringing our 9 month old baby as well as our 3.5 year old in for dinner. We've already said we will be back again in a year or two so the boys can go to Longleat again. We will definitely stay at Hill House Cottage again.
Mrs Binding

Templecombe is easy to get to and there are plenty of local towns and villages to visit. The cottage was very nicely decorated and fitted. The log burner made all the difference though. We had a wonderful time in this really excellent cottage which has great amenities such as well equipped kitchen and very modern bathroom and comfortable bedrooms. The main room is really cosy with a wood burner which we used every night during our visit in December after being out in the cold all day! We would recommend it
January 2013
We stayed on the weekend and had a great time. The cottage is very characterful and furnished beautifully. The owners were very friendly and helpful and even dropped over home-made muffins for us. Upon arrivial the place was spotlessly clean the fire was lit and they had music playing, a really nice touch after the car journey. It became like a home from home for the weekend relaxing in front of the fire after days out exploring the area. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom is top notch. The local area is beautiful with plenty of places to explore and good local pubs and restaurants. The Stapleton Arms in Buckhorn Western 10 mins drive away was a lovely rural pub and the food was excellent. You really can't fault this place for a weekend getaway or longer.

We received a warm welcome and the owners are very friendly and helpful and keep the cottage in fantastic order and was very clean...
January 2011
This little cottage is tucked away in a corner, next to the larger house of the owners. We visited during a wet and icy few days and it was still delightful - so we are thinking of going back in the summer. The log fire was burning when we arrived, the kitchen is well-equipped and the bathroom and the bedroom are wonderful - spacious, warm and comfortable. This is a well cared for and well thought out letting property and would be perfect for a family or for a couple. We can heartily recommend it.
May 2010
I cannot rate this oasis highly enough. The welcome was exceptional, the home was beautiful, every detail had been thought of, even fresh flowers were placed in the rooms. What a wonderful retreat, we can't wait to go again. Simply outstanding - thank you so much!

April 2010
The cottage was excellent, very homely, clean with every convenience. Furnishings were to a very high standard. The owners were very friendly and keen to ensure you have a good holidays. The cottage is very well situated for local amenities and attractions.
December 2009
This cottage exceeded our expectations! Beautifully furnished, kitchen included everything one needs, comfortable bedrooms with lots of space in the wardrobes and a neat bathroom with plenty of towels. And everything in top shape and extremely clean!!! Since we were there in April we were ever so pleased that a good central heating gave us a cosy stay. Landlord even gave our son (9) a huge easter egg and the whole family were surprised with a nice "welcome package". Location is in a small village and sadly the pub was closed during the whole week we stayed, but that is certainly out of the home-owners range of influences. A good bottle of red wine in the cottage certainly has it's positive aspects as well ;-) Thanks folks...keep up the good standard!
December 2009
We had a superb week the cottage is to die for old world charm with all the modern conveniency's!! Kate and Husband made us so welcome and Thanks for Milk, coffee and the apple cake!! We would recommend this to every one and hope to return one day!!Thnak you so much!!
December 2009
Beautifully refurbished stylish cottage with everything that is required. The only downside is Templecombe itself which does not have much to offer. However, would certainly return to the cottage. The owners were very helpful.
December 2009
The owners were friendly & helpful, the cottage was excellent with every convenience. the location was excellent for touring. There was nothing we didn't like.
December 2009
Premises represented excellent value for money. Nicely decorated, clean and comfortable property with all home comforts. Car parking for 2 vehicles. Owners living in adjacent property were very helpful and friendly. This annexe is in a very good position for visiting surrounding areas and although the village itself was lacking in local pubs at the time of our visit (due to renovations), there were others to visit within short driving distances. The property is very handy for the nicely kept train station - with reasonably priced tickets available for day trips to Salisbury and beyond. The only thing lacking really was a nice garden in which to sit out on a summer's evening, although the annexe did overlook the owner's garden at the back. Worthy of note if you have children is the fact that this property is adjacent to a reasonably well used road and care would need to be taken with young ones around.
