We liked the position and the friendliness of the owners. It was very quiet with wonderful views, very good walking from the cottage and it is very central for exploring the region. There was good access from the main road. The cottage delivered in all respects.

Liked the friendliness of our hosts and the fact that we enjoyed very good weather throughout, it is a delightful Barn. Apart from our food and personal supplies, our every need was provided for by our hosts, which is a very refreshing change. The information about the area was all up to date, which is another refreshing change. Our hosts obviously do take care to ensure customers enjoy their holiday, thank you to them!

A beautifully decorated property in a peaceful countryside setting with great walking straight out of the door (great for bird watching and wildlife spotting). Everything has been thought of! Welcoming owners who are there if you need help. Would love to visit again any time of year to get away from everything.

The property was spacious, beautifully furnished and set in the most relaxing idyllic setting with views of open countryside from every window. My expectations were high from the photos on Sykes site but the overall holiday experience was beyond expectations. My only regret is I didn't book the holiday cottage for longer!

June 2016
We really didn't want to leave this wonderful place this morning. Spent the perfect week there. Beautifully furnished. Best weeks sleep on the most comfortable beds. Will miss the call of the curlew, the house martins flitting in and out of their nests feeding their young and the lapwings in the field . It is incredibly quiet with wonderful views.

Our hosts were very friendly, welcoming and informative about the area. We were very comfortable and well catered for. This is an excellent base to visit the Lakes, North Yorkshire, Durham and Newcastle. A visit to nearby Bowes Museum is an absolute must, but get there in time to see the Silver Swan at 2.00 pm. Just a couple of things to bear in mind; there is no freezer and you are remote from shops - Barnard Castle is the nearest; and the access must be treated with care if you vehicle is low, although the hosts do use a sports car which shows it can be done!
