Kelpers Barn is located on Whistley Farm in north Dorset on the edge of the Blackmore Vale, in an unspoilt and beautiful area of countryside, bordering the counties of Wiltshire and Somerset. The property stands detached in its own enclosed garden, with wonderful surrounding views of the adjoining grounds which feature a 4-hole pitch and putt golf course, and a lake which is available for coarse fishing, exclusively for guests.
It provides an ideal base throughout the year, as Dorset has something for everyone, with countless, picturesque villages. The market town of Shaftesbury, which is the highest town in the county, was made famous by the Hovis advert of the 1970s, filmed on its iconic Gold Hill. From here, you can enjoy wide views of the Dorset countryside and the neighbouring town of Gillingham. Gillingham has a rich history dating back over 1000 years and has featured in a great deal of literature including the work of Thomas Hardy. Hambledon Hill, a national nature reserve with stunning views from the top, is Dorset’s most impressive Iron Age hillfort with multiple ramparts.
The coastal resorts and sandy beaches in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch can be reached within a 50-minute drive. Other attractions in the area include Longleat House and Safari Park, a 15-minute drive, and Stourhead House and Gardens, a 5-minute drive. The historic cities of Bath and Salisbury are within an hour’s drive. Shop 1¼ miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
