We stayed here as part of a large group, we had all the lodges as it was a weekend for a wedding nearby. Firslty the area is beautiful, right on the lake with the geese, ducks and swans wandering about. There is a cafe on site and whilst I didn't eat there several of the party did and the breakfast was good. There is car parking on site and a Tesco Extra only about 10 minutes away. On arrival there was some tea and coffee (like you would get in a hotel). There is a large gas BBQ on the veranda of all lodges and outside seating. The lodges themselves are a good size and have all basic needs. If you have a three bedroom you get a washing machine but the two bedrooms don't. All have dishwashers. The furnishings are OK and the beds comfortable. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it as a base rather than a place to remain for the duration. However it gets 3 stars due to the fact it is quite basic and the following things let it down a little and if these were changed it would make a huge difference.
You literally get exactly what is needed for four people or six people dependent on lodge. so only 4 glasses, 4 plates, 4 knives etc. Not a huge thing but it meant constant washing up or if a breakage you were then left short.
The lodges provide towels but if you want anything bigger than a bath mat take your own.
The shower is gravity defying, electric, no power and a very light touch of water.
Huge amount of midges, I realise there is nothing that can be done about this but if they had nets or barriers at the windows you would be able to open them, as it was we couldn't open the doors or windows as there were so many and the weather was warm.
However I would go back and it was certainly value for money.
