Kintillo Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
This recently decorated property is located in the hamlet of Holmisdale, 8 miles from Dunvegan and boasts 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining area and a spacious living room. This old country house is positioned in a quiet spot on a green hillside so there are clear views of the beautiful Scottish landscape to be had from all of the windows in this property. The house has been furnished in an inoffensive way in pale tones of cream and blue and the kitchen has all the modern appliances you'd expect to see in any home.

The village itself is home to various different styles of buildings some of which are old stone cottages and farmhouses and some of which are modern recently built properties. There are lots of well-stocked shops in the vicinity and there are plenty of nice hotels to stop by at and have a drink. Popular tourist attractions like the Dunvegan Castle and a bridge that's rumoured to be home to several fairies are quick and easy to get to from Dunvegan village and there's also the Cuillin Mountains near by. The Cuillin Mountains are well known amongst the rock climbing community as one of the top climbing spots in Britain.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has someof Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Oil central heating. Electric oven & hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV, video, DVD player, stereo/CD player, selection of video/DVDs. Fuel & power inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 3 cars. Gravelled, cottage style gardens to the front of the property. One well-behaved pet welcome. Kintillo was wonderful, we were surrounded by such beautiful countryside and spring lambs, with the cuckoo calling in the distance. A lovely home from home with great attention to detail and the good quality TV was a bonus.

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful part of Skye. Had everything you could have needed! There was lots of information on tourist attractions/walks in the area. Had a great relaxing week and would definitely recommend.

Kintillo is a serene cottage is a peaceful setting. Ideal if you are looking for some down time away from the daily hustle and bustle. My wife and I enjoyed the peace and quiet and our only regret was that we were only there for 3 nights rather than the full week. The cottage was beautifully presented and felt very homely, there was plenty of space inside. It was 15mins away from Dunvegan and 45mins from Portree - you aren't too far away from amenities (there is a local shop in Glendale as well). Someone has taken the liberty of printing out a great selection of local walks in the cottage, which are great if you are looking to get outdoors and in the fresh air. Would definitely rent again if back in the area.

When we decided to go to Skye Duirinish and booked Kintillo we did not expect a cottage like that. It was a perfect base for exploring the north of Skye - especially to make quick visits to the lighthouse. And we had the promised sheep in the morning - not too early of course - great stay.

The cottage was cosy, comfortable and clean. The area was peaceful. Lots of interesting places to visit by car and on foot. People are very friendly. Welcoming staff at the Red Roof Cafe in Glendale. Portree is lovely, as are the castle grounds at Dunvegan and Armadale.

Ideal if you want a quiet holiday away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Wonderful.

July 2012
I absolutely loved my holiday. The location of the cottage was so beautiful and peaceful but there was enough 'scintillation' nearby not to feel too isolated. The cottage itself was cosy, homely, obviously well loved but so super clean and neutral enough we felt we could make it ours for the week. We felt a tiny bit guilty even watching the deluxe flat screen once in a while with such incredible nature outside, but it was a holiday after all!

May 2010
The cottage was located in a peaceful place and was very quiet at night! The cottage was well equipped and was very comfortable. The central heating was effective so we were warm when it snowed! Skye was excellent for walking and we were near lots of good walks. There was a local shop and nice evening walks in the area. It was nice that the owner had left us a bottle of wine and that there were basic things like salt. The cottage was very spacious.

A splended croft in a lovely location. The inside of the croft was to a very high standard with no complaints at all, the small village had enough services to make the stay enjoyable, and relaxing. The welcome pack was well thought out and thorough, we followed some of the recommendations for walks and we were plesently suprised. A good selection of relevant local guide books, which help plan our days.
October 2013
A fantastic cottage in a lovely quiet part of skye, great base to explore the island. To many places to itemise but the quiraing, the old man of storr, and the cuillin hills are a must.
October 2015
We recently came to the Isle of Skye and stayed at Kintillo Cottage for 7 nights. The cottage is in Glendale, a quiet and picturesque village just outside Dunvegan. The view from the cottage is picturesque with views of the surrounding hills and sheep roaming freely. There are no cottages in front of you so there is a lovely feeling of peace and being somewhere remote and almost untouched. The cottage has a very spacious and well equipped kitchen with all the pots and herbs you would need, plus the basic essentials to get you started. I even baked a cake! The living room is very comfy with plenty of seating and a large flat screen tv. There are two bedrooms, 1 large double and 1 smaller room with 2 single beds. The cottage is very clean and well decorated. It looks modern but homely. We really enjoyed our stay and it was a great base to explore the island and nearby Raasay. Other amenities close by include village shop/post office, a couple of cafes, plenty of craft/galleries and it's a short drive from the Michelin star 'Three Chinneys' restaurant. I would definitely recommend this cottage. We had a wonderful stay.
September 2012
Kintillo is an ideal base for an enjoyable holiday. A true home from home, this cottage has everything you need. Situated in an great location, remote enough for that 'get away from it all' feeling, but a 5-10 minute walk away from the local village shop which was well stocked. Great base to come back to after a long day out exploring the local walks. Bottle of wine on arrival is a lovely touch. Will certainly be back.
June 2013
Stayed in K in the last week in May and were lucky with the weather. I fully recommend the cottage which is modern inside, extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need - literally a home from home. The central heating is spot on as is the variety of cutlery and crockery all of which is spotless. The view across the river is beautiful and the location is good for touring the whole island. Loved it and will book again.
September 2011
the house was excellant the children loved the freedom and the view . A great base to see everthing around and pleanty to do if you wish or just relaxing
October 2011
If you are looking for a complete holiday then this is it. Finding a holiday that allows you to relax whilst still entertaining 2 active teeenagers is not easy. Skye has it all, Fishing, walking scenery, castles, dining etc and to enjoy all this Kintillo is the ideal setting. We had lovely weather for the week and even the feared midges didn't bother us.
June 2012
We had the most incredible time here. The cottage is so perfect as a holiday rental...neutral enough decor that it feels calm, but with just a few small touches to make it feel very homely and cozy and it's obviously very loved. Being teetotal, we were left some fizzy drinks instead of the usual bottle of wine, which felt unbelievably welcoming after a long day's journey from London. The cottage was impeccably clean, the heating is straightforward to understand, there's a deluxe flat screen tv with DVD player, a fantastic power shower but also a bath if you need a soak after a long walk plus a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer (although we dried our clothes on the line and they smelt so good afterwards). Also it's dog-friendly, which is important if you are a dog owner who likes to take your dog on holiday with you! The kitchen was well stocked and we had local oysters and scallops one night from the oyster place just beyond the Talisker distillery. They were delicious and such a treat, but very reasonably priced compared to eating them in a restaurant. As it was summer, the days were very long, but we both slept like kings as the bedroom has good blackout blinds and it's so deeply peaceful there. The cottage is situated on the outskirts a lovely little village called Glendale. The views are uplifting and you can see the sea quite close by, and it's about a 10 min walk away. Willie Campbell the owner advised me to stock up in a supermarket beforehand so we did that, but actually the co-op in Portree isn't too far away. Also Glendale is blessed with the excellent RedRoof cafe which serves beautiful lunches and tempting baked goods and their coffee is obviously sourced by people who wouldn't settle for anything less than an excellent cup of coffee. It ended up being somewhere we went a lot! We also had a meal at the Three Chimneys which was, as expected from a Michelin starred restaurant, very sophisticated food. The holiday was just what I needed and I felt completely different when I came back to London. The beauty of Skye is phenomenal and it's hard not to feel affected by it on a profound level. Kintillo was a wonderful base to experience Skye and I hope to return there as soon as possible.

Very remote cottage which is what we really wanted. Fantastic views from the front door. Cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and lovely and clean. Scenery in Skye is unbelievable. My wife who is a photographer had an absolute blast. Great few days away

December 2009
The cottage was very well appointed with all mod cons. It was a true haven with many although quiet, very beautiful spots to visit. Not too far from The Three Chimneys restaurant, which although expensive offered superb food. The whole stay in this beautiful part of Skye was very relaxing and we were blessed with unusually good weather which added to the enjoyment of our stay. We have no qualms at all about returning here in the future!
