Knott View Countryside Cottage description

Holiday home
This holiday home is one of two exceptional barn conversions set within in a 17th Century Grade II listed property on the owner's working farm within the Dales National Park. Just two miles from Sedbergh and within easy reach of The Lake District, the property offers a comfortable living room with dining area, two bedrooms and breathtaking countryside views of the valley and dramatic Howgill Fells. The property has been restored to provide spacious, comfortable accommodation with the fantastic addition of a patio area with furniture - ideal for relaxing on a hot summer day with a good book. With so many great amenities and attractions in the local area, visitors will be spoiled for choice.

Sedbergh, pronounced Sed-Ber by locals, is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale, situated just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town itself is full of narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs and boasts a famous school dating back to 1536. Its 12th Century church has an olde worlde atmosphere and is also well worth visiting when looking to discover the town's history. Dentdale is often described as the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales and offers rolling hills and dry stone walls, whilst 14 miles away is the windswept moor of Whernside – the place where the rivers Dee and Rawthey converge. At the centre of the dale is the settlement of Dent, also packed with picturesque cobbled streets – some of which have existed since Norman times. There are three golf courses in the vicinity as well as tennis, riding, and fishing facilities. For those who prefer a peaceful day rambling through the countryside, the area is a walker's paradise.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Oil central heating. Electric oven (gas hob), fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, TV, DVD, radio, WiFi. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot and highchair available. Off road parking for two cars. Patio area with garden furniture and BBQ, additional grassed area. Sorry, no smoking and no pets. i would without a doubt highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing, enjoyable get away to stay in this modern, yet traditional barn conversion ( with views to die for.) The accomadation is conceniently situated between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District.Me and my family managed to fit in several visitations which was only made possible b the owners of the holiday cottages as they supplied the cottage with many booklets and leaflets on recommeneded, top notch places to go! Although we visited many local places, we did enjoy staying on the farm as there was 3 very friendly, entertaining sheepdogs keen to play and entertain ou young children! There was also hens and turkeys roaming around, plus lots of gambling lambs! Our children really did get a look into what a traditional farm is like and they absoloutley loved it! We stayed for a week, me, my wife and our two kids and not one of us wanted to leave! The bedrooms were clean, modern and well equiped with all the necessities! The bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining room were all lovely! On a whole, the holiday cottage was a delightful place to stay and so was the other holiday cottage which was next door! The holiday cottage is surrounded by breath taking views and i recomend the cottages to anyone, families, couples, large goups of friends, anyone! We shall hope to go back next year as it is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in.
October 2013
It was fantastic. Very nice owners, great accomodation and the view was great!! The house had everyting you need, a well equiped kitchen and very nice beds. Bedlinnen and towels are included and there is a washingmachine (and dryer) Nearby are the shops and in the cottage are a lot of brochures and maps of things to do. And there is a lot to do and to see. It is not far from the Lake District and James Herriot "country" I think I will come back again.
Christine G.

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in, well equipped, cosy and comfortable with beautiful views. The owners (and dogs!) are very friendly and gave us a warm welcome. A week was not enough time to see everything this area has to offer so we'll definitely come back here again!
September 2012
The cottage is easy to find, even in the dark and on a rainy night! Yes, up a private hill and what a view! It is a great place to stay if you want to reach the Lakes and the Dales at equal driving distance. The cottage is very well kept and the surroundings are safe for young teenagers, even to play (with the very friendly dogs).
November 2010
Knotts view was tucked away up a long drive off of a main road. It was surrounded by beautiful countryside. The cottage was warm and well maintained and had everything we needed to make our stay a pleasurable one.We was well placed to visit the Lake district and Yorkshire. We had a fantastic stay there and would recommend Knotts view to anyone wanting a quiet stay in the country or for easy reach of the Lake district and Dales. The owners were really helpful and welcoming too.
December 2009
We received a warm welcome as soon as we arrived and were shown around both lovely cottages by the friendly owner. The smaller cottage is great for small families and the larger of the two is large enough to accomodate the whole party for meals and getting together if, like us, you take both cottages. There are excellent walks around Sedburgh and Kendal is only a 30 minutes drive away. Bookworms will enjoy a visit to the Town of Sedburgh which has many specialist bookshops. These cottages are both super places from which to explore this beautiful part of the world.
