Lakeside Cottage description

Holiday home
Lakeside Cottage certainly lives up to its name as it is a beautiful 17th century stone built barn conversion which stands in a wonderful lakeside location beside the owner's historic home in the Shropshire village of Rosehill near to Market Drayton. With two double bedrooms and one single, this cottage can sleep five people in comfort and also has the benefit of a family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom. The rest of the accommodation is made up of a fitted kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a log effect electric stove and a large picture window with lake views. Outside the cottage is off road parking for 2 cars. Perfectly located for exploring the Shropshire countryside, Lakeside Cottage really does have something for everyone.

Area
Rosehill is a small North Shropshire village 3 miles from the town of Market Drayton, and stands beside both the River Tern and the Shropshire Union Canal. Market Drayton is renowned for hosting one of the liveliest weekly markets you will find, and the town centre boasts many delightful 16th and 17th century half-timbered buildings including a variety of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. Close by is Ellesmere, with its beautiful meres (lakes), a variety of National Trust mansions and gardens including Attingham, Hodnant Hall, Hawkstone Park and the lovely medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

Region
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

The cottage is something to recommend to other people. It's as if you are staying in your own home, so complete. We would recommend the owners to include the possibility of renting a bike with the cottage. It is the only thing we,Dutch people, missed. We would certainly like to come back here. It's a pity that there is a noisy road running nearby. The location itself is beautiful but has been spoilt by the loud traffic.

An attractive cottage and friendly owners. We were there over Christmas and it was very warm and cosy. We were particularly impressed by the effort the owners had made to make the cottage festive and welcoming.

Very nice cottage in lovely surroundings. When we walked round the beautiful lake we realised how much work and dedication has gone into making this place a special spot. We all felt at ease in the cottage and found the owners friendly. We would go back there any time.

A very big thank you to the owner for the wonderful welcome, and a big thank you to Sykes Cottages. I travelled from Africa, and would say this was one of the most enjoyable stays in Market Drayton.

We had a lovely stay. This was a beautiful cottage: warm and cosy with high quality finish - and we loved the view over the lake from bed.

We stayed at Lakeside Cottage in May 2013 and enjoyed our stay there very much - everything was perfect except for the weather, fishing was also very good. The family running the complex were very friendly, polite and helpful . We decided to return again and this time the weather was very good, making our stay even more enjoyable. We visited many places in the surrounding areas which we also enjoyed. The whole holiday was a complete success. Will definitely return again.

It was exactly what we were hoping it would be. The owners make every effort to ensure that the cottage has everything needed for a five person break, and are on hand if needed, but remain unobtrusive. For all anglers: The lake has a very small membership, so the freedom for people staying at the cottage is wonderful. Our catches were very rewarding, even exciting on occasion. My Son caught a 10lb carp on a float reel with three maggots! Golfers: superb courses with moderate fees are close by. Sightseers: Ironbridge has a wonderful atmosphere. Museums well worth a visit, and good selection of eateries for pauses in activity.

Owners were very welcoming. The close proximity to the beautiful lake was perfect for evening fishing sessions. Nice location for anyone wishing to visit 'Ironbridge' and its attractions. We would definitely consider booking again.

We had a lovely break at this cottage. The property had everything that we needed and was well decorated. The owner was very helpful but unobtrusive. The views across the lake were lovely and we enjoyed use of the garden and the fishing. We would definitely visit again. The general area had lots to see and do.

My husband loved the fishing and the lay out of the lake and fishing areas - and I loved the cottage. Very tastefully furnished to the highest standard. All the latest mod cons. and home comforts, was warm and cosy. Felt very relaxed all the time. Warm welcome on arrival by such lovely hosts who were always on hand. A very pleasant well furnished cottage with comfortable beds and good facilities. But no loo rolls, soap or dishwasher tablets, be prepared to bring your own!

A great cottage with a lovely vista over a lake. Good location with several things to do nearby. we had fun running through a maize maze and hiking a trail. the weather was amazing too! There were a few spiders in the house and it would have been nice to have a few more of the basics (oil for cooking etc), or working wifi / ipod dock etc.

The lakeside location was stunning. The owner was very friendly. The cottage was extremely comfortable and the week's break was so relaxing. Plenty to do locally but also a great place to sit and relax. Even when it poured with rain the lakeside views from the lounge were stunning. Highly recommended.

No problem with the service, very friendly. Cottage was cosy, even though it was winter. Lots of bedding to keep u toasty warm. Fishing according to my husband, was enjoyable. Something for us both to do with the village a short drive away. Close to plenty of day trips, found it quite central for most things.
