Lane Cottage Family Cottage description

Holiday home
Lane Cottage is a semi-detached cottage in the rolling Dales countryside half a mile from High Bentham. The cottage has a king-size double with en-suite shower room, a double room and a room with futon for one people. There is a shower room, a kitchen and a sitting room with dining area and woodburning stove. Outside is off road parking for two cars, and mature gardens to the front and rear with furniture. Lane Cottage can be used as a base for walking and cycling, touring the Dales and Lakes or visiting the market towns and villages of the area.

Area
The Yorkshire market town of High Bentham is ideal for exploring the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the north and east, with the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stretching away to the south. The Bowland fells and the nearby three peaks area of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent provide excellent terrain for the enthusiastic walker, while the delights of the Lake District are only half an hour away. High Bentham is a busy little town with a weekly cattle market, good local shops and services and a choice of pubs providing meals. The High Bentham area is threaded with public footpaths and rights of way that are well documented in a local walk guide and cover locations such as the River Wenning or the Great Stone of Fourstones, a relic of the ice age and a spectacular viewpoint.

We loved Lane Cottage. It was spacious, but cosy and homely at the same time. It was very clean and well-equipped. We loved the rural location and the rustic feel of the cottage itself. We would definitely go back and recommend to family/friends too.

A genuine old beamed character cottage with very helpful owners adjacent. Direct access to a good variety of way marked walks with lovely views across the fells. Lots of interesting things to do within a short drive; caves, waterfalls, seaside, pubs!

Lovely cottage in a quiet town. Plenty to see and do in the area. Hosts were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Our daughter enjoyed the morning visits from the chicken and the evening visits from the rabbits. Ingleton Waterfall Trail is well worth a visit, stunning views.

The cottage was well priced, well located and the owners were extremely friendly and approachable. The weather was horrendous for most of the week, but the cosiness of the cottage more than made up for it. Would definitely stay here again.

What a lovely cottage. It was great to take a short break in this relaxing cottage. The views over the countryside were lovely, as a city girl I love to get out in the countryside when work permits. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, which added to the ward atmosphere of this cottage. The big comfortable bed was so cosy, excellent power shower, and we lit the log burner on the evenings while we relaxed and watched the DVDs provided. My only regret is we had to leave, I would stay here longer next time if I could. I would recommend Lane Cottage to others looking for a relaxing, away from it all break.

A bunch of friends and I were to have our first winter Christmas ever (as we are from New Zealand and Australia)! So We had a strict criteria... Must be a English cottage with character, must have country views and walks, must be close to a train station, must be affordable, must have a fire place, so we feel cozy! Must have pub and shop near by. Lane cottage ticked all my boxes! Plus my experience here exceeded my expectations. Richard and Pam (our hosts) were lovely and went the extra mile for us. I hope to come back for another holiday here soon! I appreciate everything and just adored the cottage and my week of hibernating ;)

I highly recommend this place! I went with my boyfriend to spend a few days in Easter and we had such a great time. The couple who rent the house is lovely, very kind and very very warm. They gave us some tips to travel around and we felt in love with every place they recommended. The house is also an amazing place, with incredible views of the green fields, and breakfast are just a pleasure!!!!

If you're looking to tour the Yorkshire Dales & The Lake District in one hit then you won't find a better property to locate yourself then Lane Cottage. Set off the beaten track just on the outskirts of the main village of High Bentham, the cottage was perfect for criss crossing between the two counties as the Lakes were only a 30 minute drive away and the Dales, right on your doorstep. The cottage itself was the ideal size to house my family and my cousins family as well, a total of six people with plenty of space for all of us to easily move around and a ample sized garden which was very much set up for the younger children and the adults alike. Coming back to the cottage every night we were often greeted by Bruno, the family dog who was more than children friendly and more often than not even the friendly chicken would pay us a visit. After a days driving we had the option to come home to a log fire to warm the house up or just sit outside on the patio with a glass of wine to relax. The hosts, Pam and Richard were very welcoming and situated in the cottage next door, were only to happy to help with anything that may of cropped up or were there just to offer suggestions and advice on the best places to visit or sights to see. Overall a fantastic place to spend a week touring and hopefully we'll return again soon.

A lovely old cottage set in beautiful quiet countryside. There were fantastic views from all rooms and well set out gardens at the front and back of the cottage. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. In an ideal location to explore the Dales and the Lake District.
