From the minute we walked through the front door of the cottage, we knew this was going to be a really good holiday. The decor, furniture and fittings are well chosen, you can tell a lot of planning and expense has gone into the final result. There was a lovely 'Welcome Box' waiting for us on arrival. The service from Sykes and the owners was first class. My best surprise was the abundance of kitchen utensils, pots and pans...everything you could ever need...and more! We loved the views from the conservatory, even on a rainy day! The location is good as there are lots of coastal walks, nearby and the cottage is handy to explore the Wirral resorts, Chester and Liverpool. Thankyou for a great stay.

I grew up on the Wirral and we wanted somewhere to use as a base whilst visiting family. We chose Lavender Cottage for convenience and were delighted when it turned out to be such a lovely place to stay. It is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. We had wondered whether its being on a working farm would mean it was noisy, but it was peaceful at all times of day. Being able to watch the lambs and the sheep dogs was an unexpected bonus. We used the bikes to cycle on the Wirral Way and over towards Connah's Quay. We enjoyed The Harp Inn (short walk away) and Burton Manor (a hidden gem). Further afield, we visited Liverpool and the Antony Gormley statues at Crosby. Travelling anywhere in Merseyside by train from Hooton Station is cheap and convenient. I revisited old favourites: Parkgate, Hilbre, Thurstaston Common and Ness Gardens. All are well worth a trip and very nearby. And, finally, Kri Kri Greek restaurant in Neston was fabulous. We would love to return to Lavender Cottage in the the future.

We loved the location of Lavender Cottage, it had access to the cities, yet it was right in the countryside. Right on the doorstep of RSBP land, cycle track and you could sit in the house and have a fantastic view of all the birds! We particularly liked the warmth of the cottage, even in the middle of winter! This is not the first time we have visited Lavender Cottage and it definitely wont be the last !

It was such a peaceful location, early mornings and late evenings were uniquely calming and renewing with the view across the estuary under the vast expanse of sky finally crowned with some magnificent sunsets. Nothing quite like it anywhere else we have been.

This is in an excellent setting with views over marshes and River Dee to Wales; ever shifting light patterns and wonderful sunsets. It is a quiet location (apart from sheep!) but with good access to main roads, Chester, Liverpool and North Wales. A few minutes from path along river estuary.

The kitchen was extremely well supplied for all our needs, there was a very large quantity of crockery/cutlery/glassware available. Everything we needed they had supplied. The bedrooms likewise, all we needed was there. The cottage was extremely warm, cosy and very welcoming when we returned each night. Would certainly recommend this property and likely to return again.

We had watched the conversion of the barn, from afar, on our occasional bird watching visits to the area. When we realised that Lavender Cottage was available as a holiday property we just had to book a stay. We found the cottage even more stunning than expected. The views are fantastic but the standard of care and attention to detail, in the cottage, is outstanding. We were extremely comfortable and found Lavender Cottage clean, cosy and very well-equipped. Ideally positioned for wandering and bird watching and certainly somewhere we would like to return.
Mrs Davies

A lovely, comfortable and warm cottage with the most spectacular views over the Dee estuary. Well situated for travelling around the Wirral or equally just watching the wildlife from the windows. Ewes and lambs in the barns behind the cottage, we could hear them calling, it was great. There was an ever changing view from the cottage, a real oasis.

A lovely property in a wonderful location. Stunning views, close proximity to RSPB reserve and lots of walks in the area. It was very relaxing and there were sheep to watch for live entertainment! We would come back again. The owner went to a lot of trouble to make our stay comfortable. She had a welcome tray ready when we arrived which was a nice touch and much appreciated. She also left telephone numbers for contact if needed.

Lavender Cottage was so comfortable and peaceful. We had everything there we could need - lots of thoughtful little touches. There's plenty to do within easy distance and having the bikes provided was great with the Wirral Way very nearby. After busy days out, we loved coming back to the cottage and relaxing while looking out over the estuary and North Wales. Would love to return.

Another plus is The Wirrall Way walking and cycle. This is accessed within 200yds of the cottage.

Spent a good week on this cottage in June enjoying the welsh and Cheshire countryside this farm sit in beautiful landscape on a working farm with working paths near the propery and RSPB Burton mere 5 minute drive away. The way its been set you feel that owners have supplied all that there would want for a hoilday cottage as its really well stocked up with all you could need and with the added bonus of been welcomed with a fresh loaf on bread and a bottle of wine

Cottage very well equipped with everything we needed and more; and one of the cleanest cottages we have ever stayed in. Comfortable beds. Very generous welcome pack of fresh bread, wine, tea, coffee, milk and eggs, plus toiletries. Location good - in countryside with lovely views towards Clwydian Hills, yet convenient for the cities of Chester and Liverpool.

November 2015
The cottage is clean, cosy and comfortable, and we enjoyed coming back in the evenings after a hard day's sightseeing. There's so much to see in the area; we went to Chester for the day, visited Port Sunlight (which has my favourite gallery of all, the Lady Lever gallery with lots of 19th and 20th century art) and drove up the Wirral coast. A highlight was the RSPB's Visitors centre, just round the corner: great walks, even if you're not especially keen bird watchers! The cottage has everything you could need, with DVDs, books and binoculars. So even if it's too wet to go out, you'll still be happy.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this charming cottage. Sited at the edge of a working sheep farm it has marvellous view over the Dee estuary looking over to we spent evenings sat either outside in the garden or in the lovely conservatory at night to either watch the sun setting or observe the sheep dogs rounding up the flocks. about a 15 Minuit drive to the Chester Park and ride (Upton) and zoo its in itself in a good location. We found a charming place called Parkgate which is only a few miles away and has Pubs restaurants cafes and Ice cream parlours along with a traditional fish and chip shop all on the Main Street through it. If you don't want to take the car out you can find a pub called the Harp a good mile from the Cottage which does basic food and sandwiches but has a nice seated area outside again looking over the estury. The unlimited broadband in the cottage is a real bonus and we managed to work 3 devises from it with unbroken service. We have already booked again for next year as soon as we got home so can't wait.

I recently stayed a week at this gorgeous cottage with my husband and daughter. I was having some treatment at Clatterbridge hospital so wanted somewhere convenient but away from the hustle and bustle. This cottage did not disappoint! It was very clean and well equipped with amazing views and a very chilled out feel.

Immaculate cottage with all mod cons and a few added extras. Freshly made bread and welcome wine went down particularly well. Enjoyed sitting in the conservatory and taking in the views across to the North Wales hills. Due to rural location, a car is a must. A very cosy cottage and would recommend to anyone.

This is one of the nicest cottages we've ever stayed in, and we've stayed in lots. It's beautifully presented, with comfortable and attractive furniture and fittings, and every little detail has been thought of. The welcome pack is the best we've ever had, and included a bottle of wine, eggs and bread, as well as many other things - everything you need for a relaxing drink when you arrive and breakfast in the morning. It was so nice not to have to rush off to try and buy milk and bread immediately we got there. There was also an amazingly well organised information pack, with details of things to do in the Wirral, Chester, Liverpool and North Wales, all organised into sections in a folder. Binoculars were provided for bird-watching, and there was even a sewing kit in one of the bedroom drawers. The owners have put so much thought into everything. The location is lovely, with stunning views over the Dee Estuary. There's an all-glass conservatory at the back and we spent a lot of time sitting in there and gazing out towards the Welsh hills and the ever-changing sky. It was really peaceful and relaxing, and there's an Rspb nature reserve almost on the doorstep. The cottage is within easy reach of all the attractions in the area, although we were actually house-hunting at the time and not on holiday, so this wasn't very relevant to us. Because we were trying to find somewhere to rent due to a job relocation, it was very important to us that we had internet access. When we first read the cottage details and it said the internet connection was via a dongle, we were a little worried that it wouldn't work very well. In the event it worked perfectly, and we also found we could 'piggyback' on another local connection at times. If being able to get online is important to you, you'll be fine here. We really can't fault the cottage at all; it suited us perfectly and Val and Tony, the owners, were so helpful and friendly. We'd have no hesitation in recommending it to others and the only reason we won't be coming back ourselves is because we're now living in the area!
