Little Barn description

This stunning barn conversion boasts an exceptional location, offering magnificent views over the Amberley Wildbrooks, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, set in the heart of the South Downs National Park. Having been sympathetically converted to an excellent standard, Little Barn was nominated for an award by the local authority’s planning department. Formerly used for agricultural purposes, the barn still retains some of the character features, such as period beams, some of which are low on the first floor. The entrance hall, with room for coats and boots, leads into the light and spacious kitchen/dining area, which has a high vaulted ceiling and a stone floor, with underfloor heating. French doors lead out to the large decked terrace, a delightful spot from which to savour those outstanding views, and enjoy al fresco dining or an aperitif or two! The double bedroom is on the ground floor and has an en-suite shower room.

Stairs lead from the ground floor to a spacious galleried sitting room, with two armchairs, and another seating area with sofas and TV. There is a door with a Juliet balcony, and plentiful beams, some of which are low. The barn incorporates garage parking for 2 cars.

This superb property is located in a peaceful downland village setting, with a village shop, pottery, tea rooms and medieval church. The very popular pub (½ mile) serves good food, and many other popular well-known pubs are within easy reach. Within walking distance, a historic hotel offers fine dining in stunning surroundings for more special occasions. The area offers a wealth of scenic walks: the water meadows of the Wildbrooks, the River Arun and the very popular South Downs Way can all be accessed on foot from the barn.

Popular local attractions include Arundel with its castle, various eateries, antique and book shops; Parham House and gardens; Petworth House (NT); gardens at West Dean, Nymans (NT) and Woolbeding (NT). Chichester offers Goodwood (horse racing, the Festival of Speed, and the Revival), the Festival Theatre and cathedral, all within a 20-minute drive. Gatwick Airport is about 30 miles away; beaches and coastal walks at Climping (8 miles) and West Wittering (20 miles).
