Set amidst the stunning countryside of the North York Moors, the area is full of great walking opportunities whilst the nearby towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside provide great shopping with their wealth of quaint tea rooms, individual shops, galleries and good restaurants. The market town of Pickering is just 10 miles away and hosts not only Pickering castle but also the North York Moors Steam Railway. The region also hosts a huge number of stately homes and gardens including those of Castle Howard, Duncombe House and Park, Rievaulx Abbey, Nunnington Hall.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

The location made an excellent base and the owners were extremely welcoming and helpful, yet allowed us our privacy during our stay. We particularly loved the view of the racehorses going over the gallops from the kitchen window! A beautiful little holiday cottage and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

lovely converted barn, with helpfull owners living on site should you require them.Good base to explore all this area has to offer
October 2011
Good stay, nice owners, although is wat difficult to reach them to make key arrangements
September 2013
An ideal country retreat for two people up a dead end lane. Comfortable conditions (upside down with lounge upstairs).Everything you need, plenty of parking, only drawback we thought was lack of any extended views but never the less a good base for the area of Ryedale and N Yorks Moors.
Ms Morelli
February 2009
The location was great, tucked down a small lane on a farm. Really peaceful. You really felt like you'd got away from it all. However, it was very close to Helmsley, an idyllic small market town, with great views, walks and shops. Plenty to do in the area and beyond. The accommodation was very recently furbished, so immaculately presented in a modern style and well equipped.
December 2009
This is an unusual place to stay (a converted tack room)set down a lane in beautiful countryside. The bedroom and bathroom are downstairs and the kitchen/dining area and lounge are upstairs. The accommodation had recently been converted, so all the fittings and furniture were new and of a high standard. The owners were on site at the farm, and were very helpful, but you still retained privacy. The accommodation was well heated and very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area. It was well located and Helmsley is a lovely market town only a few minutes drive away.
