A pretty, quirky little cottage but lacking in basics. I understand it is self catering, but guests who travel from a distance (especially overseas visitors) are unlikely to have packed things like salt and pepper, coffee etc. There was also no dishwasher powder, which pretty much negates the use of a dishwasher and advertising it as having one is pretty misleading.
Although there seems to have been some thought put into the decor, it is nothing special, the beds are not particularly comfortable and there really is not much to recommend it. When we arrived the barbeque was filthy and we had to clean it before we could start a fire, and its attention to little details like that which can score extra points in a review.
My biggest bugbear, however was the lack of wifi. Between 2 of us and 4 different devices - 1 iPhone 6, a Samsung Galaxy 6, a Lenovo laptop and a Dell laptop - we could not pick up the wifi and therefore had to keep on going out to pick up urgent work emails etc. If it had been once device I would think it possibly the fault of the device, but four expensive, state of the art devices? The problem clearly lies with the placement of the router/hub and when we mentioned not being able to connect we were told that it was working fine for them - obviously in the main house where the router is situated. Again, this is something that is advertised and one of the reasons I chose the venue in the first place.
All in all, a disappointing stay, which is a great pity as I belong to a group (+1000 strong) of South African carers who were all interested in the property, and if I had enjoyed it there would have been some good business out of a recommendation as everyone is looking for places to stay between assignments.
Oh, and the directions to the property are absolutely SHOCKING! No accurate landmarks or distances provided - it took a lot of guesswork and u-turns to get there.
