I honestly cannot fault this gorgeous and quirky barn conversion. The owner was very understanding and generous - both with his advice on where to go and with his time answering any questions. It is in a very rural location,we thought all the better for it, but no more than 10 minutes drive from the village of Overton. We really loved the peaceful location and the fact that we could make use of the wood-burner - would return in a heart beat.

Little Pentre Barn was the worst holiday home we have ever stayed in ,The furnishing very worn and very dirty and in need of replacement . The living room had a wood burning stove which was very smelly and the house smelt of smoke all the time. There were so many cobwebs behind the curtains and around the house that we had to hoover the place when we arrived. The upstairs bedroom was tiny and the headroom above the bed was about 18inches and the lighting was above the length of the bed which was a hazard for children. There was daylight shining thruogh a wooden door in the bedroom and the ceiling was full of cobwebs and spiders. Its so bad that the children refused to sleep in the room so they ended up sleeping on the couch and a mattress on the floor. In main bedroom the pillows were a dirty brown colour and underneath the bed had inches of dust. There was even underwear in one of the drawers. The kitchen units and cupboards were all stained and in need of a paint. The freezer box in the fridge was all mouldy so we couldnt use it.The bathroom was the only nice room but after five days it blocked so we had enough and went to stay in a travelodge which cost us more money. The outside of the house was just as bad as the decking was rotten and you could not sit on it as it broke when you stood on it.When we came home we complained we complained to Sykes Holiday Cottages but the said it was the owners fault and refuse to help us.The owner was very unhelpful and said the house was clean but we took lots of photos to send to him and Sykes. The owner then refused to any contact unless it was through a solicitor.

We used the location as a music video set. The overall surroundings of the cottage was very tranquil and set the correct tone for our music video. The owner was very helpful in clarifying issues we had at the time.

Excellent location. Very quaint cottage. Friendly owner who had the log fire burning upon our arrival and had biscuits and a jug of milk so we could have a cuppa. Lovely taverns around the area including The boat and Cross Foxes. Went to Lion Quays spa for the day. Finished off going on the bikes to llandegla forest, which was awesome! Thanks.

We enjoyed the freedom to be able to come and go. We were also very close to family and being able to invite them for a meal was good, we will return again as it's a good point for visiting places in North Wales.

A pretty, quirky little cottage but lacking in basics. I understand it is self catering, but guests who travel from a distance (especially overseas visitors) are unlikely to have packed things like salt and pepper, coffee etc. There was also no dishwasher powder, which pretty much negates the use of a dishwasher and advertising it as having one is pretty misleading. Although there seems to have been some thought put into the decor, it is nothing special, the beds are not particularly comfortable and there really is not much to recommend it. When we arrived the barbeque was filthy and we had to clean it before we could start a fire, and its attention to little details like that which can score extra points in a review. My biggest bugbear, however was the lack of wifi. Between 2 of us and 4 different devices - 1 iPhone 6, a Samsung Galaxy 6, a Lenovo laptop and a Dell laptop - we could not pick up the wifi and therefore had to keep on going out to pick up urgent work emails etc. If it had been once device I would think it possibly the fault of the device, but four expensive, state of the art devices? The problem clearly lies with the placement of the router/hub and when we mentioned not being able to connect we were told that it was working fine for them - obviously in the main house where the router is situated. Again, this is something that is advertised and one of the reasons I chose the venue in the first place. All in all, a disappointing stay, which is a great pity as I belong to a group (+1000 strong) of South African carers who were all interested in the property, and if I had enjoyed it there would have been some good business out of a recommendation as everyone is looking for places to stay between assignments. Oh, and the directions to the property are absolutely SHOCKING! No accurate landmarks or distances provided - it took a lot of guesswork and u-turns to get there.

We had such a nice holiday in this cottage, my kids could not believe their luck when we arrived and had a horse with her foal in the field next to the cottage. Also a nice cat and chickens roam around in what is a nice relaxed atmosphere. The cottage is really rustic and homely and has everthing you will ever need. With a great pool and friendly owner who leaves you to get on with things and tells you to treat everything as your own. We will be back some day.

The children enjoyed playing with the owners children, using the swimming pool and using the grounds. Information on the local area was great.
