The cottage had everything we needed. It was close to a lovely pub and the wood burner made for cosy evenings. We could have spent a week exploring the local area. The owners were very amenable and helped us with our queries.

The cottage was absolutely lovely and very well equipped. The decking was a real bonus! I felt that the pictures on the website didn't do it justice. We would definitely recommend the cottage to friends. We've been using Sykes for many years and we think this was one of the nicest we've stayed in. Looking forward to booking with you in the Isle of Wight next year!

It was exceptionally clean well looked after by the very friendly owners. There were great views over the valley from the outside decking. The pub down the road was great, just how a country pub should be.

A lovely peaceful setting, not being overlooked by other properties. We were able to eat breakfast on the decking in the warm morning sun. A very comfy and cosy place to stay. There were a number of places to eat at and visit close by. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Owners were very helpful. The cottage is in a great position, very relaxing and a high standard of furnishings and decor. It felt like home from home, which is not always the case in holiday accommodation. The best holiday home we have stayed at.

I liked the fact that it was near to many attractions and it wasn't difficult to get to them. The cottage was well maintained and the standard was excellent. The owners are very pleasant. They came and introduced themselves which we thought was a very nice thing for them to do.

September 2010
Its location and nearness to many places of interest. This was a very relaxing holiday in a well equipped and homely cottage. No mobile phone reception in village, this did however add to the relaxation.
August 2010
Very quiet. Lovely views from the decking over the valley. And wildlife; buzzards, red squirrels and deer. Friendly, helpful owners.
January 2013
Great location - lots of attractions etc within a small radius. The accommodation was cosy and well-equipped.
June 2013
We (me, my husband and 3 yr old daughter) have just come home from a wonderful week in Little Shortwood. It was a wonderful and relaxing break. The cottage had everything we needed, it was home from home. The owners are just the most loveliest people you could ever meet. There is a pub a few minutes walk, which has lovely food and a warm welcome. Would definitely stay at the cottage again and can't recommend it enough
September 2011
A great location, off the beaton track but within easey reach of major road links. Not the place for people who would like to sit in, or with children who would want to play in a garden, as it overlooks a sharp declining valley, but there is a nice sundeck to sit on, and dine on if you wish, while taking in the views. The owners could not have been more helpfull or welcoming. I would recomend this to all people who want to just get away from it all.
December 2012
the owners who live next door were very friendly and welcoming & cottage was lovely and clean. Loved the decked balcony overlooking the garden - it felt like being in a treehouse! We were lucky with the weather so could spend lots of time out there eating and drinking wine. Location was very quiet but has a nice pub with good food and there are plenty of places to visit if you have a car. We hope to visit again one day.
November 2010
The cottage is lovely, simply and tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Spacious enough for for two couples or for a family (not good for babies and toddlers however!). We would love to come again.
November 2010
excellent if you wanted a quiet rural location and were prepared to get the car out, nothing too much trouble for the owners, great feature was the decking/balcony outside the door on the valley edge , saw squirrels, buzzards and deer, great views, pub in the village , and amenities nearby , but car essential, probably would not take small children, due to the very steep valley sides
